Quite a few of the Russian journalists at Anfield tonight were giving it the big talk before this game started.

Liverpool's open style would play into Spartak's hands, they said. They'd give a much better account of themselves than in the first meeting, they said.

Instead, they've been completely blown away. The travelling support may still be in impressive voice, but presumably it's because they know their side should be 5-0 down.

So, so easy for Liverpool. A job very well done so far. As if they would ever throw away a 3-0 lead in Europe eh?

Alberto Moreno comes on after some treatment but then pretty much immediately goes down again. He looks devastated too. Let's hope that's not too serious.

Son bends in another long-range effort which needs a save. Dele Alli looks to be struggling a touch too.

City close again, they've been on top since going 2-0 down, if that can make any sense. Phil Foden slides a pass into the run of Gabriel Jesus, who tries to go around Andriy Pyatov and the keeper makes the save.

At the other end Taison bends one over the bar.

After watching the theatrics of Antonio Conte and Diego Simeone at Stamford Bridge last night, it seems a bit odd seeing Mauricio Pochettino remain seated as Tottenham score.

There was barely a flicker of emotion from the Tottenham boss.

He is probably assessing who is putting themselves in contention for weekend encounter back here against Stoke.

Liverpool 3-0 Spartak Moscow

Jurgen Klopp is fuming to one of his coaching staff as Alberto Moreno needs treatment. Moreno made a block tackle and immediately went down in a heap. Not what you want when you're 3-0 up and cruising.

It's all going Shakhtar Donetsk's way. Not only are the Ukrainians two up at Man City, the only side who could pip them to second spot in the group, Napoli, have let in an equaliser at Feyenoord.

Good game now as City pour forwards. Gabriel Jesus cushions a header into the path of Ilkay Gundogan, he thumps a left-footed effort on goal but it's well blocked by Ivan Ordets.

Phil Foden has an effort, scooping over the top after Leroy Sane chopped the ball back into his path. Very tricky task to get that on target.

Could/should be four! Mo Salah backheels into the run of Sadio Mane, who skins his man again and moves into the area but he shoots well over the top. Mane has rushed a few shots tonight. A touch rusty?

Spartak Moscow cannot defend against this frontline at all.

Richard Morris: All the problems for City coming down their right hand side. Danilo is very poor.

Apoel have had a good spell since going behind but they haven't tested Michel Vorm. As it stands, Apoel will miss out on third and a place in the Europa League.

Poyner, Wembley: This is impressive from Spurs. Could have gone in half-hearted given Spurs have won the group & recent form. I wonder if some of these players fancy their chances of getting in the first team on the weekend!

Tim Sherwood (not THE former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood): Once again Rose is the worst player on the pitch in a Spurs shirt. Off to ManU for big money in January, good riddance!

A slip of the tongue/fingers there when I called this game a dead rubber. It matters to Shakhtar of course.

Shakhtar will be through if they avoid defeat or if Napoli do not win. So far, so good.

Could Liverpool have asked for a better start? It's a dream. And you can tell Jurgen Klopp's pretty happy because he's hardly had to move since kick off. Just stand back and watch the goals fly in.

His side have all but sealed a place in the Champions League last 16. I bet he could get used to this.
