Confidence must be huge at Newcastle. Collecting any point in the Premier League is hard but three wins in a row is great. What Rafael Benitez has done is fantastic with that squad.

You go through the season and pin-point games where you need to pick up points to stay in the Premier League. This is one of them.

Newcastle striker Joselu was one of the best finishers at Stoke when I was there, he was frightening. Any of the players at Stoke will tell you he’s unreal - left foot, right foot, in the air, inside the box, out of the box. If it clicks, he will go into double figures.

It's early in the season but it's a must-win. These are the teams Brighton need to beat at home not the Manchester United's but the Newcastle United's.

We’ve done OK. The West Brom game has helped us out massively, picking up three points.

We’ve been in the game near enough the whole way through all of our matches. We’ve given a good account of ourselves and hopefully there’s more to come.

I have said it a few times, he is a hero of mine. I watched the reserve games at Villa - he was a centre-back back then - and I wanted to emulate him. You will not find a bad word said about him. A humble guy. Her says he has been lucky with injuries. I wouldn't say that. He is a professional. He deserves every bit of credit he gets.

He knows what his body needs and when he needs it. He is a perfect example of the modern pro. At City, Yaya Toure, James Milner, etc, they all used to say he was their favourite partner in midfield.

Gareth Barry is fantastic, he never turns down an interview. You never hear a bad word about him. He’s the archetypal player you don’t notice – and that means he’s doing a brilliant job.

Lucy: My Summer with Des, hands down. Based on Euro '96, insane cast: Neil Morrisey, Rachel Weisz, Des Lynam, Jimmy Hill.

Fun fact: Jimmy Hill was the original choice to star alongside Rachel Weisz in The Mummy. There was a scheduling conflict with Sunday Supplement and so they cast Brendan Fraser instead

At the start of the season, I looked at Newcastle's squad and thought who’s going to get 10 goals or make a difference from the bench? And there wasn’t too many shouting off a page.

To put a slight dampener on their start, their centre-half has scored their last two winners. Who’s going to score these goals? But the minute Jamaal Lascelles isn’t banging them in from a corner, what’s going to happen then?

    Brighton v Newcastle (16:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

Mo Diame's equalising goal at Brighton in February was a complete fluke. But it was significant.

The Geordies went on to win that in the dying seconds and from then they've had a psychological advantage over the Seagulls. They pipped themfor the Championship title and they've looked the more comfortable top-flight team.

But this is where the worm can turn. Brighton deserved far more from their two games against Bournemouth. The pace and movement of Jose Izquierdo, Anthony Knockaert and Solly March can unsettle Newcastle.

With the loud Amex crowd also playing a major role, I'll go for a desperately-needed home win.

    Amex Stadium

Brighton have spent £5m this summer updating their stadium so it's fit for purpose in the Premier League.

Here's the new interview positions they have had built in the tunnel. Hughton and Benitez will speak to us and various broadcasters from around the globe pre and post match.

Newcastle came here in February and beat Brighton 2-1. It was a crucial win as they ended up pipping them to the title by one point. Although Newcastle's equaliser in that game was one of the luckiest goals of the season.

Chris Hughton told me on Thursday that his Brighton side aren't looking for revenge over the Magpies. However, with a trip to Arsenal and a tough fixture at home to Everton, Brighton need 3 points here to push on up that table.

  17. 'What did Niasse do that was so bad?'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 24 September 2017

    Everton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Joleon Lescott
Former Everton defender on BBC MOTD2 Extra

On Oumar Niasse - totally snubbed by Everton last season - scoring twice

I'm pleased he's come back and scored two goals. Ronald Koeman says he's potentially saved his job. Last season what did he do to get his locker taken away and ostracised? What could he have done that was so bad? Fair play to him. Koeman has brought him back in - he needed him - and he's been repaid.

I'm not saying he can replace Romelu Lukaku as his goal ratio was second to Sergio Aguero but he can play his part in Everton being successful. He's more physical and direct than everyone else they have.

    Everton 2-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "From our perspective we have to be very pleased with the performance, even though the result has gone against us.

"Hopefully the momentum of the performance change has not been lost because that was our best performance of the season."

"You can't score and then say, 'Shut up shop and smash the ball long', the players would be confused as they would know you wouldn't have true belief in what you were doing.

"We have won plenty of games playing that way and we looked like we were heading to win 1-0 and everyone would have said what a great performance."
