    What clever play by Sanchez.

He has been trying get the ball through the eye of the needle and it was a wonderful bit of creativity.

Brighton had started far more effectively in the second half and shown more ambition but there you go, Arsenal have a two-goal margin.

WHAT an assist! That is absolutely tremendous from Alexis Sanchez, and that's how you unlock a massed defence. Lovely swift interplay between Aaron Ramsey and Alexandre Lacazette finds Sanchez running into the area, he feints to shoot but instead plays a disguised backheel to free Alex Iwobi, and he finishes high past Mat Ryan and into the net.

    Uncle Jay-Jay would approve.

    Newcastle v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

BBC Radio 5 live at St James' Park

Rafa Benitez is a Liverpool legend and a class act, so this afternoon is sure to be an emotional one for him.

“When I talk about the Geordies and the Scousers, you can see the similarities in terms of the cities and the people," he says in his programme notes.

"They support their clubs unconditionally. The connections between the players, the supporters in the stands and the city are strong, and that means the players always give a little bit more for their team.

"At Liverpool, we reached finals and won trophies, and I hope we can build something our fans will be proud of here at Newcastle.”

    Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Brighton have all 11 players within 25 yards of their own goal-line as Arsenal patiently probe the fringes of the back six. Alexis Sanchez floats a cross in towards Aaron Ramsey but there's no room at all, Lewis Dunk doing well to head back to his own keeper.

The main problem for Brghton will be Sanchez. He is the main instigator but at the moment the two Brighton centre-backs are looking solid.

Arsenal try the classic 'Scholes' corner, floating one out deep to Aaron Ramsey alone in the D. But the Welshman's volley is well wide.

Attacking for Brighton the outlet is the wide players against Arsenal's three-man defence. Monreal and Holding do not want to come into wide areas.

    Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Brighton have to make better use of their rare breaks than that. Bruno and Solly March do well to move the ball down the right but when it comes inside Pascal Gross tries an over elaborate blind flick and the move dies down.

At the other end Alexandre Lacazette has a shot blocked by the groin of Shane Duffy. As painful as it sounds.

It has to be said that Everton were not very good at all against Apollon Limassol on Thursday night. One word: Pedestrian.

    Everton v Burnley (14:15 BST)

    Ian Dennis
    Radio 5 live senior reporter

After a run of four straight defeats, Ronald Koeman said 'a win is always the best medicine when you're going through a challenging period', but it seems the Everton manager is still looking for the perfect remedy.

This is their fourth successive home fixture and, while they're unbeaten in their last three, the boos at the final whistle on Thursday night after the 2-2 draw in the Europa League highlight the restless mood among supporters.

Don't be surprised if Sean Dyche and his players add to Everton's frustrations. Burnley's last victory at Everton was in 1976 but they are unbeaten away from home this season in all competitions.

Another victory would mean they already surpass their total of seven points away from home last season.

Thomashollern: Never rated Ozil as the world class player he was meant to be and I believe Arsenal play better without him in the team.

Neil Bennett: Monreal in the fantasy team wasn't a bad choice after all

Edwin Makokha: Arsenal very wasteful,as usual.Dont understand why they prefer dancing into box instead of shooting crosses into box.

We will have team news from the second game of the day shortly. On 5 live Pat Nevin reports that Sean Dyche has been on the pitch at Goodison striding out the distance between halfway and the penalty area.

Brighton have shown a little more self belief as the half has gone on.

They are organised but are playing deep. Their passing is tidy but they are not explosive.

Arsenal may be narrow but they are subtle. When Brighton push forward and Arsenal break there is surge from red shirts.

Brighton are playing a cagey game. They cannot afford to lose another goal.

Half chance for Brighton who are having joy down the sides of the Arsenal back three from time to time. Jose Izquierdo gets free on the left, keeps the ball in play and finds Davy Propper in the area, he's under pressure and can only lift a shot wide.

    Arsenal 1-0 Brighton

Great minute. Brighton have a corner, Petr Cech again flaps at it and the ball spins out to the edge of the box. A Brighton player tries to take on a defender and is stripped of the ball and all of a sudden Arsenal are away. They counter, at least four on two, it goes wide to the left to Sead Kolasinac, his cut-back is on the money and Aaron Ramsey sees a low shot saved by the shins of Mat Ryan!

I'll be kind and call that a 'clumsy' challenge from Shane Duffy. He mows down Alexis Sanchez from behind on halfway and he's in the book. That hurt the Chilean.
