Could this be the start of a Manchester City blip, or have Crystal Palace just stirred the hornets' nest?

The Eagles ended Manchester City's 18-game winning run by holding them to a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on New Year's Eve, leaving Watford with the unenviable task of facing a City side that will determined to get back to its high-scoring ways.

It will be very interesting to see how things pan out at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

Just watching Sergio Aguero arriving at the Etihad Stadium, both arms outstretched as he walks into the ground to allow the fans lined up waiting to high five him.

With Gabriel Jesus out for up to two months with a knee ligament injury , externalyou would imagine Aguero makes the first XI today. We'll find out for sure in a couple of minutes.

Team news drops at 19:00 GMT because this game is a 20:00 GMT kick off.

Storm Eleanor has arrived. It’s a bleak night at the Liberty Stadium, high winds and lashing rain. Lovely. There’s no Harry Kane in the Tottenham starting eleven after his illness, he’s one of the subs - nice evening to warm the bench. Fernando Llorente makes his first Premier League start. For Swansea Tammy Abraham is out with a hip injury and they’ll play a back three. The conditions could make it an interesting night.

I'd imagine Harry Kane being on the bench has delivered a double blow to fantasy football managers everywhere who were also back to work today...

Shane Long continues up front with Charlie Austin still banned. Alex McCarthy keeps his place in goal as Fraser Forster again sits on the bench.

Saints XI: McCarthy, Yoshida, Stephens, Long, Tadic, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Bertrand, Højbjerg, Pied.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says the club has stretched its resources to the limit during the festive period. He lost Jason Puncheon and Scott Dann to injury in that draw with Manchester City.

Crystal Palace XI: Hennessey, Milivojevic, Tomkins, Cabaye, Townsend, Zaha, Schlupp, Benteke, McArthur, Fosu-Mensah, Kelly.

It remains to be seen whether the frantic final few minutes at Watford was some sort of turning point for Swansea, but it gave Carlos Carvalhal a winning start and provided a much-needed morale boost for the Premier League's bottom side.

They remain favourites for relegation but it's so tight down there that they're only three points from safety ahead of the New Year fixtures.

Tottenham head to South Wales feeling rested and confident. They haven't played since Boxing Day, when they put five past Southampton. "Swansea have only scored one more goal than that at home all season.

Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal makes three changes from Saturday’s 2-1 win at Watford. In what appears to be a move to five at the back, defenders Angel Rangel and Mike van der Hoorn and winger Nathan Dyer come in for Kyle Naughton, Roque Mesa and Tammy Abraham.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino makes four changes from the 5-2 Boxing Day drubbing of Southampton. Harry Kane is only on the bench having suffered with a cold in recent days and the other players to drop out are Serge Aurier, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele. Former Swansea striker Fernando Llorente replaces Kane and another ex-Swan, Ben Davies, comes in for Rose, while Kieran Trippier and Erik Lamela are also recalled.

Swansea XI: Fabianski; Rangel, van der Hoorn, Mawson, Fernandez, Olsson; Dyer, Clucas, Carroll, Sanches; Ayew.

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Lamela, Eriksen; Son, Alli, Llorente.

Tottenham arrive in Swansea tonight hoping to overtake their arch rivals Arsenal, who are currently fourth in the Premier League table.

Spurs haven’t played since their 5-2 hammering of Southampton on Boxing Day and the man who scored three of their goals on that occasion, Harry Kane, is aiming to become the first player to score three successive hat-tricks in English league football since 1946.

Their opponents this evening, Swansea, enjoyed a whirlwind start to new manager Carlos Carvalhal’s reign on Saturday, as they mounted a dramatic late comeback to win at Watford, just two days after the Portuguese was appointed.

It will be a surprise if he manages to repeat the trick. As well as the fact the Swans are bottom of the Premier League, Spurs are the only team they have not yet beaten since winning promotion to the top flight in 2011.

Harry Kane will be sad to see the back of 2017 after breaking records left, right and centre.

He's kicked off 2018 with a bit of a cold but has travelled to Swansea.

Will he make the Tottenham starting XI? We'll get all the team news for tonight's games in about five minutes.

OK, I know the prospect of a bit of football on an evening is not quite the same as lounging about at home for two weeks off work, but it's pretty good all the same, especially with tonight's line up.

Manchester City are back in action as they look to bounce back from dropping points for the first time since August. The Premier League leaders take on Watford and a win will move them onto 62 points. That was enough to finish seventh last season.

Meanwhile, it's all happening at the other end of the table with five of the bottom six all in action.

Here's the full Tuesday night line-up:

Southampton v Crystal Palace (19:45 GMT)

    Swansea v Tottenham (19:45 GMT)

West Ham v West Brom (19:45 GMT)

Man City v Watford (20:00 GMT)

There are few things sweeter in life than sticking the "out of office" message on email then skipping out of the building to kick start the Christmas break.

But before you know it, here we are - the 2nd January. For the majority of the UK, this date signals the end of lazy days and eating mountains of food as the 6am alarm goes off for the first time in a new year.

It's back to work with a bump.

The good news is, you've got through the first day! And as a little reward, how does a bit of midweek Premier League football sound?
