  1. Conte v Mourinho spat not good for the gamepublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

    Chelsea v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on Football Focus

I don't think this sort of spat is good for the game. I don't think Antonio Conte should have risen to Jose Mourinho's jibes, because we've seen him involved in this kind of thing before, but then - Conte is a fighter and he'll never back down.

All the manager's have become a bit miserable this season, because of what Pep Guardiola is doing with Man City, and Mourinho and Conte are showing signs of the pressure. Conte in particular, seems to have realised the type of club he's at, and it doesn't look like he'll stay there beyond the end of his current contract.

I can see Alvaro Morata warming up at the bridge. Tracksuit bottoms tucked into his socks, pink bib.

The £60m man has not scored in his last four outings and he knows it.

He's in my fantasy footy team so now would be a good time Alvaro.

  13. 'Chelsea have busiest schedule'published at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

    Chelsea v Leicester (15:00 GMT)

    John Motson
    Match of the Day commentator

Amid their involvement in three knockout competitions, Chelsea can't afford to let their league form slip.

Five clubs are jostling for three Champions League places behind runaway leaders Manchester City, and Chelsea look set to have the busiest schedule over the next few months.

The prospect of a potential 20 games in 75 days will stretch a squad short on numbers. There's not much proven quality outside the strongest matchday 18. Expect Antonio Conte to keep raising the need for reinforcements during this transfer window.

Looking at historical and current form, you wouldn't give Leicester much chance. They are not the same team without Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez and manager Claude Puel will be relieved if he can keep them both this month.

Welcome to Stamford Bridge for today's 5 Live commentary game between Chelsea and Leicester. 3pm kick off.

I was at Cobham yesterday for an intriguing press conference held by Antonio Conte. You start to get the feeling he won't be here next season.

I asked him if he was surprised to read about managers replacing him. This was his answer:

"No, no, I'm not surprised. We are not talking about my work. We are talking about the history of Chelsea and the history of Chelsea speaks very clear. For this reason, its normal for the press use it to speak a lot about Chelsea. About the manager of Chelsea. I repeat. My only problem is to continue to work and do my job, to have good results and continue with my idea."

The Chelsea hot seat doesn't look like a comfortable one right now.

  17. Walcott to Everton?published at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

    Spurs v Everton (17:30 GMT)

    Simon Jordan
Former Crystal Palace chairman on BBC Radio 5 live

At Palace we prided ourselves on the academy. Southampton were the elite academy with Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott. Those last two have not reached their potential and both have gone to Arsenal. That might say something about the culture at the club.

Walcott is a decent player. But does he score enough goals? Will he be for Sam Allardyce what Jermain Defoe was for him at Sunderland? Is Walcott the right man for him? If he thinks so, then he should be.

  18. Walcott to Everton?published at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January 2018

    Spurs v Everton (17:30 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

He’s had a very decent career at Arsenal but he hasn’t fulfilled his potential, considering what was expected from him.

I‘ve watched Everton a lot in the Europa League this season and they looked like the slowest team I’ve ever seen, no pace.

But I’m not sure I’ve seen the blistering pace from Walcott for a few years. It doesn’t sit right [if it’s a good fit or not].

Sam Allardyce just wants to bolster the squad more than anything. They need numbers. They got too many of the same type in the summer.

What we’ve seen of Walcott for five years is an impact player off the bench – never their go-to. That’s probably because he’s not good enough. But at Everton he will be one of the best, at least at the start.

The big news on Friday of course was that Everton are talking to Arsenal about signing Theo Walcott. Sam Allardyce talked about the forward's "pace", "crossing ability" and "goalscoring threat".
