Simon Baker: Worst away 'day'? Last year's 4000 mile trip to Brighton - only to see them lose to Bristol City instead of winning the league. Not sure who regrets it more, me or my bank manager.

Simon appears to have flown to watch the Seagulls from the US. Who'd be a football fan?

We want to hear about your nightmare away days, along with any kind gestures that may rival Mathias Jorgensen's hefty £8000 bar tab...

Brighton travel to West Brom with one fairly significant problem - they can't score an away goal. This picture of Biram Kayal lifting his effort well over the bar kind of captures the issue.

I'm beginning to think there's something up with the purity of the air on the team bus for these trips because when presented with the sight of goal, the club's players fold like a deck of cards.

Chris Hughton's side are without a goal in each of their last five matches on the road since Glenn Murray's winner at Swansea in November.

    Is today the day?

West Brom are already associated with a special moment in Brighton's campaign; the newly promoted side's first win back in the top flight came against them.

Chris Hughton's side look comfy now in 12th place, but zoom in to the points column and Brighton are only three points above the relegation zone and very much in a battle to stay up.

West Brom were the original 'Great Escape' club. They may need to summon the spirit of 2005 when - never mind being bottom at Christmas - they were bottom for much of the season's final afternoon before miraculously surviving.

It is 20 league games since the Baggies last won, and almost half of that run has been under Alan Pardew.

West Brom v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

    West BromImage source, .

West Brom are enduring a club record winless run of 20 league matches, losing 10 of them.

The Baggies have won only two of their last 31 Premier League fixtures, whilst Alan Pardew has won just one of his last 19 top-flight games as a manager.

These are all ugly statistics. Very ugly. I mean, to not win a league game since August. Surely you can even fluke a win in that time span.

Snow in Newcastle says Tina in our last post. I don't believe that city gets cold weather.

This gent is simply shovelling salt.

And shout out to the Swansea fans making a 700-mile round trip to Newcastle today. You legends.

Right, apologies for digressing, I'm off to West Brom next...

Tina: 21 Nov 1993, Liverpool playing away at Newcastle and getting beat 3-0... It was snowing, no roof on the away supporters end, and Bruce Grobelaar was accused of throwing the game... Softening the blow would've been: no snow, a roof, and no throwing the game!

T92 AFC Wimbledon:Sheffield United away last season, lost 4-0. Would of been nice if we didn’t concede after less than a minute so we had some hope of getting something for longer than a minute.

They face Sunderland, meaning Chris Coleman returns to familiar territory. That's available via live text with local radio commentary thrown in at the top of the page.

Newcastle have to win it. Ever since the Man City game, Rafa Benitez put a lot of pressure on himself to pick up some wins. At home, they have to turn over Swansea.

I watched the Brighton game and it was like watching two Championship sides. If they stay up, it’ll be because there’s three worse teams.

The atmosphere was electric at the start of the season but it’s evaporated.

    Jermaine Jenas

I don’t think there's been a time in the Premier League era when people look forward to going to St James' Park more than they do now. This is not a top team. If they remain in the Premier League it’s a miracle. If Benitez wasn't there, I think they’d 100% go down.

It might not help Newcastle the fact they have to win this game, they just have to. The fans are not going to be what they were when Newcastle were at their pomp.

Jamie, Cheltenham: I travelled to Carlisle from Shrewsbury on a Tuesday night for a Johnstone's Paint Trophy match. It was postponed because of fog when we reached Cumbria! Went to the rearranged game the following week and Shrews lost 1-0... all that effort and I don't even support them!

Patrick: Once had an 8 hour round trip to see Torquay United lose 3-0 to a Basingstoke team who were bottom of the National League South in an FA Cup qualifier. The day was made better by torrential rain and a fight in the non-segregated stands.

Crystal Palace v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

    Frank de BoerImage source, PA

I wouldn’t have employed Frank de Boer in the first place. There was no rhyme or reason to the appointment. You’ve got to have a group of players who can meet that culture.

When I wanted to get rid of Iain Dowie, I had Joe Kinnear knocking on the door. But now you have former England managers.

Palace have a £250m playing squad, Zaha is a £50m or £60m player. There's no way they should have been languishing. I said a month ago I expected them to be out of the relegation zone before Christmas so it’s no surprise to me.

The idea that you can change the DNA of the club, that's the reason why Swansea are struggling. Palace were in danger of doing that.

Crystal Palace have lost just once in 11 matches in the league, so Burnley have their work cut out today against a team with momentum.

What Burnley really don't need is to concede early. Here's why:

They are winless in all 48 Premier League matches under Sean Dyche when they have conceded the opening goal, losing 39 of them.

    Roy HodgsonImage source, .

When Roy Hodgson sat disconsolately in a media room in Nice to announce his resignation as England manager after the humiliating Euro 2016 exit to Iceland, it looked like a career in coaching and management stretching back 40 years may be over.

Hodgson was then approaching his 69th birthday and looked broken by the pain of seeing England bundled out in the last 16 by rank outsiders.

And yet, a little more than a year on, Hodgson was back at Crystal Palace explaining: "Unfortunately, a long time ago someone injected the drug called football into my veins and I have never been able to shake it off. I am still an addict."

Fortunately for Palace, Hodgson's addiction has seen him conduct a quiet, confident reconstruction of a team stranded with no Premier League points or goals after seven games into the relative comfort of 14th position with 22 points after 18 league games.

So how has Hodgson lifted the Eagles off the ground?
