kyzatoonfan4: So frustrating. Magnnusson has been excellent throughout this tie but that was poor from him he should have cleared it. Gift for Sane and City. Worst possible time too

alifegalactic: That Magnusson lad for #bcfc will NOT be very popular in that changing room at half time.

reillyusa: I really hope Bristol City get promoted to the Prem and continue this brand of football. Refreshing isn't the word.

Away we go - Bristol City lose the ball instantly and Sergio Aguero has a shot but it comes to nothing.

Bristol City 0-1 Man City (Agg: 1-3)

Bristol City make a double change - on come Nathan Baker at the back and record signing striker Famara Diedhiou.

The Manchester City fans' queue for a half-time brew will be far less troubling now that it could have been. That goal right at the end of the half - especially given how late Sergio Aguero's goal at the end of the first leg also came - has sapped a lot of the belief out of Ashton Gate.

The Premier League leaders' followers are sitting back knowing that they ought to progress from here.

Well said Al (20:27)! Not sure our friend (20:12) deserves a reply. But Pep is honouring this Cup by taking it seriously. How else can he win the quadruple??

Just looking at that goal again, poor from Hordur Magnusson to not clear his lines but it was an accumulative wave of pressure from Manchester City. Mental and physically exhausting to soak all that up. That leads to errors.

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

You can feel it in the atmosphere now. Everyone's shoulders have dropped and you can tell they feel dejected. It feels like Bristol City are now out of this tie. It's difficult for Lee Johnson, they've almost got to change their tactics completely now

Fans of either side who are allowing themselves to think about the final - it's on 25 February at Wembley.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2018

Slightly muted applause greets the half-time whistle. Will Bristol City change their approach now?

As Tom G says, that was very avoidable. Bristol City have been camped in their own half for most of the first half but they were within touching distance of a morale-boosting half-time brew at 0-0.

Now they have to score twice to take us to extra time.

We've talked about it so much already. This was going to be Bristol City's downfall. Magnusson and Bryan both had chances to clear their lines. They were guilty of over-playing in the wrong area

There's almost a sigh of frustration around the ground.

No one minds conceding a wonder goal to clubs like Man City.

But that was so, so avoidable for the hosts.

    GET RID!

Oh dear oh dear, you've got to clear your lines there. Hordur Magnusson tries to shepherd the ball out of play for a goal kick but Bernardo Silva does well to get around him and nip it back into the danger zone. Leroy Sane rifles a shot across goal and it takes a deflection on its way in. Should be the German's goal though, and that could well be that.

Bristol City 0-0 Man City (Agg: 1-2)

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a great save, it took a deflection off the defender and went into his body. But Bernardo Silva's movement to get past the defender was magnificent

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 41 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Man City (Agg: 1-2)

Close again! Bernardo Silva does well on the right to dance inside past Hordur Magnusson - there didn't seem to be any room but he found some - he lashes in a low shot and a combination of Aden Flint's shins and Luke Steele's chest smothers the shot.

    Almost half time...

Have to massively disagree with Danny Mills there. I think Graham Scott did brilliantly with Chelsea vs Norwich. If we want to stop diving we need more strong minded confident referees like him.

    Francis, London

City have played strong teams in this comp and that's refreshing. As for no chance in the CL and FA Cup lets wait and see.

I think his dad used to do that when he was in charge.

Manchester City win the ball back well, Kevin de Bruyne shoots low and hard but it's well blocked again by a sliding defender. Bailey Wright on that occasion.

"Johnson, bounce about, Johnson Johnson bounce about..." they sing.

And the Bristol City head coach obliges in his technical area.

Not really sure what to make of that!

DavidThackeray2: Bristol City perhaps being a little ambitious with the slick passing in their own third. Nice to see but dangerous to say the least.

Simon_Atkins: Reserve team cup? Teams SHOULD be putting out strong lineups, especially in the semi-final. Having been at Wembley in 2011, it's a fantastic cup to win.

playfiveaside: Bristol City a great example of English talent. Give home grown players a chance to appear on the big stage before spending stupid money.

WOOOOSHHH! Huge throw from Hordur Magnusson, Aden Flint gets a nudge on it and Claudio Bravo has to back pedal to save from right under his crossbar.
