I think Man City forget they don't have to win this game. We've just seen a couple of long-range shots. Not desperation, but maybe a bit of frustration, because they haven't managed to test the keeper that much so far

I reckon Lee Johnson would definitely have taken 0-0 after 35 minutes.

But would he have taken his side looking so vulnerable every time Man City come forward? I doubt it.

Bristol City are in a conundrum, they need to score tonight or they are out but every time they do attack they look so exposed on the turnover. Bernardo Silva dances past one man but his pass through is well cut out on the slide or Leroy Sane was in on goal.

A rare touch for Claudio Bravo, sweeping on the brink of his area to beat Jamie Paterson to a chip over the top.

Josh Brownhill then beats Nicolas Otamendi on the right but his cross is well cut out. That got the crowd interested though.

If Bristol City can get to half-time at 0-0 that's a great start. They can then try to build on that. If Man City score before half-time it's pretty much game over, so Lee Johnson will be really pleased if it stays like this

Almost training ground stuff from Manchester City as they work the ball from right to left to right again - a rigid shape at times. It's all well and good but they are yet to open the scoring of course.

The Bristol City fans have been singing "You'll never win that" about the EFL trophy, to the Man City fans.

That'll get a few chuckles. No, Man City have not won that, while Bristol City have won it more times than any other club (three).

I imagine owner Steve Lansdown will never want to be in a position to win it again.

It was a shot you'd probably expect Luke Steele to save but then he gets that bit of luck as the rebound goes maybe six inches in front of Aguero

  10. CLOSE!published at 29 mins

Bristol City 0-0 Man City (Agg: 1-2)

Well played Luke Steele! The Bristol City goalkeeper gets a big hand on to David Silva's shot from a tight angle and he just about pushes it wide of the sliding Sergio Aguero. So nearly a tap in for the prolific striker, as the cameras pick out another one.

    FEED THE GOAT...

Bristol City ball boy Jaden Neale rose to fame when he shared a massive the celebratory hug with Bristol City manager Lee Johnson after they knocked Manchester United out of the competition.

He's ready and waiting pitch-side tonight.

Who's rattled your cage?! I think Manchester City fancy winning at least two trophies this season. I wouldn't rule out three or four.

Bristol City counter well from that corner though and Josh Brownhill is almost played through, but the ball is a touch overhit.

GassingPirate: Pep and Man City are desperate to win this reserve team cup. They obviously have no faith in winning the FA Cup or Champs League, going all out for minor trophies. Small club mentality

    Marlon Pack gets it away.

The free-kick comes in, good delivery, but it's a yard too high for the lurking Aden Flint.

Manchester City break at a ludicrous pace, Kevin de Bruyne is well tackled and Oleksandr Zinchenko lashes a shot wide.

I'm a bit surprised Graham Scott was given this game, after what happened in the Chelsea-Norwich game. Every decision he makes, people will be on his case. To put a referee in a semi-final puts him under even more pressure. For your best games, put your best referees on it. He is not one of the best referees in the Premier League

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

That's better for the hosts! Bobby Reid gets the wrong side of Fernandinho as he misjudges a long ball forwards and the Brazilian is booked for pulling him back.

    Good position here.

First touch? Eliaquim Mangala is NOT playing, I remind you.

Bristol City give it away cheaply and Sergio Aguero is almost in on goal, he's closed down well though and his shot comes to nothing .

As someone who predominantly covers Championship football, seeing the effortlessness with which this Man City side are stroking the ball around is a strange but awesome sight.

I mean, even their back four have all got better first touches than a lot of Championship strikers. Daunting for the hosts.

Is Raheem Sterling carrying an injury? I didn't read that anywhere.

Manchester City continue to press and push. But Luke Steele has not had to make a save in the Bristol City net yet.
