Bristol City boss Lee Johnson, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are a goal down, we will try to get a goal and if we do score the atmosphere will be electric.

"This is the biggest night in the club's history for sure. It is a big task but we will do everything we can."

The last time I was at Ashton Gate for the second leg of a cup semi-final, two goals from Armand One sent Cambridge United through to the LDV Vans Trophy final at the expense of Bristol City.

That was nearly 20 years ago now, but it still puts into perspective the kind of 'big occasion' Robins fans have become accustomed in recent times. Nothing like this, that's for sure.

Nonetheless, Bristol City are just one game from their first major final since 1909.

The big question, of course, is whether they can stop Sergio Aguero being Manchester City's Armand One.

Former Bristol City winger Scott Murray, who is now their kit man, speaking on 5 Live: "We've gone a lot further than anyone thought and no-one expects us to do anything. But it's good to see that Man City have rested a few! They have shown us a lot of respect so the players should be proud of that. Tonight will be a great spectacle and the owner, Steve Lansdown, will be a proud man. We've got the backing, the players and the owner, as well as a young, enthusiastic manager, so everything is there for the club to build on this."

andrewwebb67: Very strong lineup for Man City. If they are in the mood this could be messy.

aidymutts: Walsh won't be in defence, he'll be centre mid, with Bryan dropping to left back.

I've spoken to Bristol City fans arriving at the ground who are really disappointed that defender Nathan Baker isn't fit enough to start for the hosts tonight. And you can understand why.

The former Aston Villa man has been extremely reliable for the Robins this season. He went off with a knock at Derby on Friday and his absence is undoubtedly a big blow.

  8. Neville gets England jobpublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2018

    BBC Radio 5 live

The big talking point on 5 live at the moment is the news that Phil Neville has been appointed head coach of the England women's team on a deal until 2021.

Neville, 41, has coached at former club Manchester United, Valencia and England Under-21s but has only managed one game - at Salford City, a team he co-owns.

The ex-England full-back takes over from Mo Marley, who had been in interim charge since Mark Sampson's sacking.

"This squad's on the verge of something special and I believe I can lead them to the next level," said Neville.

Yes - but only after extra time.

For example, if Bristol City win 1-0 tonight then we would go to extra time. If the scores stayed 1-0 after extra time, and 2-2 on aggregate, then Bristol City would progress.

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s a very strong side. People disrespect Cup competitions but they’re one game away from a final and Pep could win his first trophy at City so I’m not surprised.

It could be a really intriguing game because Bristol City have nothing to lose. If they really go for it, it could be an enthralling game.

Bristol City owner, Steve Lansdown, speaking on 5 Live: “For the city of Bristol, it’s great to bring people together in a stadium like this, for occasions like this. We’ve kept the tie alive till tonight and it’s great that people are coming here hoping we can do it.

"And next season we want to be welcoming teams like this here every other week.”

New signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan will have to wait to make his Arsenal debut with the winger cup-tied for Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea.

The former Manchester United player appeared in the quarter-finals for his former club, but Aaron Ramsey (illness) and Nacho Monreal (leg) could feature.

Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) and Alvaro Morata (back) are out for Chelsea.

However, Andreas Christensen (head) is available for selection.

A 2-1 home first-leg win has happened 11 times in the past 25 years in the League Cup semi-finals.

Only twice have those 2-1 winners from the first leg actually gone through.

A lot of Robins fans outside this ground believe their side can do this. They're daring to dream.

Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson, father of Bristol City manager Lee, is confident the Championship side will make sure Manchester City's players will know they've been in a game, whatever the outcome.

He told BBC Radio 5 live: "It will be a little bit of cat and mouse. If they can get the first goal or just stay in the tie at 0-0 for some time then Ashton Gate will be bouncing.

"I am going to celebrate after every five minutes if the lads are still in the game. The good thing about Bristol City is at the moment is they work hard and Manchester City will know they are in a game.

"I've got a little lump in my throat already. It is a great day for Bristol City. The chairman and the board has worked so hard. They deserve it."

So pleased to see them have a go at the Etihad. To be honest, as a Man City fan, I was gutted they didn’t go back with the draw. Can’t see them beating us in normal time tonight though.
