John: Whatever you call worse than schoolboy defending then you just witnessed it. Totally shocking

Jeff: What a crazy start for Tottenham. Big hill to climb now

Chris: Hopefully Spurs will learn from this and come back stronger next season. They’re getting a lesson in CL football here. Tie as good as over after 8 minutes

    Basel 0-1 Man City

Basel almost have an immediate chance to equalise as Ederson again runs to the edge of his box as a long ball comes in. But, like the previous time, the Basel striker can't take advantage - this time it's Valentin Stocker.

Manchester City break through. You don't even have to ask who has assisted it.

Kevin de Bruyne takes a corner, which Ilkay Gundogan gets to first to head home from close range.

  4. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

    Basel 0-0 Man City

Basel want a penalty. Dimitri Oberlin nicks the ball past Nicolas Otamendi and gets the defender's shoulder, although he may have been looking for it. It's the old 'seen them given' scenario. Could have gone either way.

  5. 'This could be four or five'published at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

    Juventus 2-0 Tottenham

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Saw Harry Kane walking back to the half way line saying get your head up to his teammates. They need to dig in, otherwise this could be four or five. They’ve not come out the blocks.

Ben Davies should see the man and the ball, but he’s only focused on the ball. Bernardeschi did well to get across him, but it’s a foul and a penalty

    Basel 0-0 Man City

Bernardo Silva's cross is just behind Sergio Aguero, who as a result fails to lay it off to a team-mate.

Chad: Lloris caught that shot as well as I did my pancake pre match.

Andrew: Damn ... can't even get settled with my cup of tea without missing the first champions league goal.

Jon: That's OK, Spurs just have to now score an away goal against Juv-oh wait.

    Gonzalo Higuain (9 mins)

Nine minutes in and Gonzalo Higuain is chasing a hat-trick. Disaster for Spurs.

Hugo Lloris guesses right but Higuain's shot in the corner has too much power for the visiting keeper.

  10. PENALTY TO JUVEpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2018

    Juventus 1-0 Spurs

It gets worse for Spurs. Federico Bernardeschi takes it past Ben Davies with his first touch and gets hacked down by the Welshman.

    Basel 0-0 Man City

A let-off for Manchester City. Ederson comes flying miles off his line to deal with a long ball forward. Star striker Dimitri Oberlin gets there first, he's about 25 yards out, he can either lift it over the keeper or blast it past him, but instead tries to poke the ball past him and it barely enters the box before Nicolas Otamendi can clear.

    Juventus 1-0 Spurs

That was the second fastest Champions League goal for Juventus, after Allesandro del Piero in 1997 against Manchester United.

    Juventus 1-0 Tottenham

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

My, my, what a finish! Juventus get the free-kick, pretend to take it, some of the Tottenham back line drop, so they can’t play offside, Gonzalo Higuain makes the run, it comes over his shoulder, and catches it so sweetly.

    Juventus 1-0 Spurs

Gonzalo Higuain has scored three goals in his last four Champions League knockout stage games; more than in his previous 24 knockout matches (two).

Is he finally becoming a big-game player?

Teams on their way out at St. Jakob-Park and Vincent Kompany must be itching to get stuck in having not played any Champions League football this season or last.

Pep Guardiola is wrapped up in a big, thick black scarf - very wise.

Ismail: I think the Man City match will end up as 6-1 like it did in 2011 against Manchester United. Good memories.

Peter: A lot of top players on the bench for City tonight. Can't believe Bernardo Silva starting over David Silva. Bernardo has not brought much to the party so far this season.
