Here is Andres Iniesta, doing what Andres Iniesta does.

The former Barcelona player - combining here with Lukas Podolski to score a brilliant goal and open his account for Japanese side Vissel Kobe - is going to rip the Japanese league to shreds like Wolverine trying to read the morning paper.

  3. Brooks ready to take his chance?published at 14:35 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Bournemouth v Cardiff (15:00 BST)

Just seeing shots of David Brooks warming up here. He looks a proper youth. Floppy hair and everything. Not sure if that is because he genuinely does look really young, or because I'm getting old?

Regardless, the kid can play, as any Sheffield United fan will tell you.

I was at Elland Road last season to see him come off the bench and score the late winner. He's quick, skillful and composed beyond his years.

If you are going in to this season somewhat blind, having spent the summer living an actual life as opposed to feverishly devouring all things Premier League, you may want to have a glance at our refresher guide to the upcoming season.

In it you'll find all the top bits of info, such as who has gone where for the kind of fee that would make Tony Stark raise a snarky eyebrow, which club has got a new victim, sorry, manager at the helm and who, if anyone, can stop the Man City juggernaut?

  8. Spurs up and runningpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Newcastle 1-2 Tottenham

It's all over at St. James' Park and Tottenham have their first win on the board at the first time of asking. They've won 2-1.

This won't do much for the mood of the Newcastle fans who were already pretty miffed at the club's lack of transfer activity in the summer.

They've also lost DeAndre Yedlin to injury. Wound, say hello to salt.

You can follow reaction to that game here.

This is the best Watford addition of the summer. Graham Taylor is perched on his bench on the corner of Vicarage Road. It’s a brilliant statue and a permanent tribute to a wonderful man and - as it says on the statue - Watford’s greatest ever manager.

Two of David Wagner's summer signings start for Huddersfield - goalkeeper Ben Hamer and Dutch defender Terence Kongolo. Ramadan Sobhi and Adama Diakhaby are on the bench but there are no places in the squad for Erik Durm and Isaac Mbenza.

Huddersfield: Hamer, Jorgensen, Schindler, Kongolo, Hadergjonaj, Mooy, Hogg, Billing, Lowe, Pritchard, Mounie.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri starts his life as a Premier League manager by keeping Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud on the bench after their World Cup exploits with Belgium and France respectively.

There are debuts for midfielder Jorginho and £71m goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, the replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who has gone to Real Madrid. Mateo Kovacic, who moved in the opposite direction on loan is not included and there is also a rare start for Ross Barkley in Chelsea's midfield.

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso, Barkley, Kante, Jorginho, Willian, Morata, Pedro.

Subs: Hazard, Loftus-Cheek, Caballero, Moses, Giroud, Zappacosta, Christensen.

Javi Gracia gives summer signing Ben Foster a first start in goal for Watford since May 2007.

Summer signings Adam Masina and Ken Sema are on the bench for the home side.

Watford XI: Foster, Janmaat, Deeney, Cathcart, Doucoure, Gray, Hughes, Holebas, Kabasele, Capoue, Pereyra.

    Brighton team graphic

Brighton also name a side with a familiar feel to it, though Brazilian left back Bernardo is handed a debut by boss Chris Hughton.

Club record signing Alireza Jahanbakhsh, who featured for Iran at the World Cup, is on the bench. Fellow new boys Leon Balogun and Yves Bissouma are also named as substitutes for the Seagulls.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Stephens, Knockaert, Gross, March, Propper, Bernardo.

There are seven new signings in the Fulham starting XI if we include Serbia striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who made last season's loan move permanent over the summer.

Fabri, the on-loan Calum Chambers, Joe Bryan, Jean Michael Seri, Maxime le Marchand and Andre Schurrle are all making their Fulham debuts today.

On the bench, there are three more new faces representing the club's over £100m post-season spend: Luciano Vietto, Sergio Rico and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Fulham XI: Fabri, Christie, Chambers, Le Marchand, Bryan, Cairney, McDonald, Seri, Schurrle, Mitrovic, Ryan Sessegnon.

Subs: Kebano, Johansen, Vietto, Fosu-Mensah, Sergio Rico, Cisse, Kamara.

No new faces in Crystal Palace's starting line-up as Roy Hodgson returns to Craven Cottage.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey keeps his place ahead of summer arrival Vicente Guaita, who is on the bench alongside another new signing in Cheikhou Kouyate but there is no Jordan Ayew, and as expected Max Meyer is not fit enough to make the squad.

Palace XI: Hennessey, Wan Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Van Aanholt, Townsend, Milivojevic, McArthur, Schlupp, Benteke, Zaha.

Subs: Ward, Kouyate, Sorloth, Souare, Guaita, Kelly, Riedewald.

  17. Neil before himpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Neil WarnockImage source, Getty Images

And finally, lets welcome back Neil. He has been here before of course, more than once. Sheffield United and QPR have both experienced Premier League life under one of football's most colourful characters and now it is the turn of Cardiff, who took second place in the Championship last season to give Sheffield-born Neil his eighth career promotion.

Back in 2007, Neil said that Crystal Palace would be his last job. He's had six since then. Yesterday, he warned Cardiff that if they sack him midway through this season he'll just go back to the Championship and aim for promotion number nine. The man is football's Sisyphus.

  18. Brighton new boypublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

    Alireza JahanbakhshImage source, Getty Images

Give a big welcome to Alireza. In a summer of big signings, he may have slipped under your radar. However, if he lives up to his billing he won't stay that way for long. Just the fourth Iranian to play in the Premier League, he was the leading scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, scoring 21 goals to earn himself a relocation to beautiful Brighton.

One of nine signings this off-season by the Seagulls, who will be hoping their new import from the Netherlands is more Suarez than Alves. He's also a fine addition to the Premier League beard club.

  19. Fast Lermapublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 11 August 2018

This is Jefferson. He's newly arrived on the south coast in a record-breaking move from Spain. Originally from Colombia, he loves a tackle. He is also something of a bad boy, having earned more yellow cards (16) than any other player in the top five leagues in Europe last season.

If he looks familiar, it is probably because you saw him charging around for an hour in his country's World Cup last-16 game with England.

    Maurizio SarriImage source, Getty Images

Say hello to Maurizio. He's a 59-year-old Italian who has just recently moved to the Chelsea area of west London. A manager since 1990, he recently built a sterling reputation at Napoli, where his attacking side thrilled Europe and drew praise from Pep Guardiola no less.

He's currently not very happy about the amount of time he has had to work with his squad, many of whom got back late from the World Cup and a smoker.
