  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:08 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-1 Tottenham

How important will that save from Hugo Lloris be? Romelu Lukaku strikes low and powerfully, but Lloris does excellently to push it away. Great save. And Spurs counter...

  2. 'Textbook header'published at 21:08 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-1 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I said at the break it was Tottenham's game to go on to win. They have come out of the traps well, but what a soft goal to concede from a Man United point of view. It's a textbook header and suddenly we have got a game on.

  3. goal

GOAL - Manchester United 0-1 Tottenhampublished at 50 mins

    Harry Kane (Tottenham)

A beautiful header. It is just like the World Cup again.

Kieran Trippier's corner finds the head of Harry Kane and that equals goal.

Kane had peeled away from marker Phil Jones and planted the header into the corner. The visitors lead.

  4. 'Had Moura been taller...'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Had Lucas Moura been a couple of inches taller, he would've got on the end of that. The game had to get better and it was lacking a bit of oomph in the first half.

Tom: Pogba bought for £90m Salah bought for £35m Let. that. sink. in...

Richard: United don't need a DF as much as they need a world class striker. Lukaku is just horrible to watch. And not just today. His control of the ball is worst out of all EPL strikers bar none.

    Tony: Wasteful Lukaku

  6. 'Old Trafford isn't the greatest show in town'published at 48 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Old Trafford isn't the greatest show in town anymore. I want to see more quality from them in the final third. They have the chance to kick start their season against a pretty flat Spurs side.

  7. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

Just like the first half, the action goes straight down the other end and Harry Kane's strike is saved by David de Gea and the rebound bounces just over Lucas Moura who is not tall enough to get his head on to it.

  8. CLOSE!published at 21:03 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

So close to the opener. Luke Shaw's square pass finds Paul Pogba 25 yards out, but he curls it just wide.

  9. Hardworking Spurspublished at 21:02 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

Manchester United's new boy Fred has been heavily involved in the first period.

He's literally been all over the show covering 6.38km more than any other home player and almost a kilometre more than teammate Paul Pogba.

But the Brazilian has some way to go to catch Christian Eriksen, who covered 6.82 km for Spurs in the first half.

    1. Christian Eriksen - 6.82km
    2. Fred - 6.38km
    3. Dele Alli - 6.35km
    4. Kieran Trippier - 6.09km
    5. Nemanja Matic - 6.07km

  12. A rat ate part of my foot - Mabbuttpublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

Former England and Tottenham defender Gary Mabbutt said a rat ate part of his foot while he was asleep on holiday in South Africa. The 57-year-old was forced to fly back to the UK for surgery and spent a week in hospital. Mabbutt, who has 16 caps for England, has type 1 diabetes and has little feeling in his feet.

"All the opponents that I've played against and I finally get taken out by a rat," Mabbutt told BBC Radio 5 live.

The incident happened six weeks ago when he was visiting his daughter, who is working at the Kruger National Park.

"I've gone to sleep and during the night a rat has come into the bedroom, climbed into the bed and has decided to chew on my foot," he said. "It's made quite a big hole in my toe, going down to the bone, and ate underneath my foot.

"It bit my daughter's thumb first in the other bedroom, and then she came into me and said 'Dad, something's bitten me'. Being in Africa, you think of snakes and scorpions."

Mabbutt said he still needs daily hospital treatment for his injuries.

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Old Trafford

Romelu Lukaku has had Manchester United's best chances but Spurs were just starting to make inroads towards half-time and feel they were denied a penalty for that Phil Jones challenge on Lucas Moura.

    Finely balanced.

  17. 'I'm sure we will see goals in the second half'published at 20:49 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It hasn't been a game of the highest quality but there have been chances.

Romelu Lukaku had to take his opportunity, but I think Lucas Moura should have had a penalty at the other end. I am sure we will see goals in the second half.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

Breathless and entertaining, but still goalless at the break. Romelu Lukaku should have scored but failed to capitalise on Danny Rose's woefully short backpass.

At the other end, Tottenham will well think they should have had a penalty when Lucas Moura went down after going shoulder-to-shoulder with Phil Jones. We'll hear more of that one later.

A good 0-0, but that is what it is, 0-0 at the 45-minute mark.

    Manchester United 0-0 Tottenham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Mauricio Pochettino was furious Tottenham did not threaten the United goal with that attack just then.

He turned in disgust, then threw his arms down as he bellowed to his team.

Now he has just sent the water bottles flying. Jon Moss is having a word.

Excellent work from Nemanja Matic, who does what Matic normally does, breaking up a Spurs attack and robbing Harry Kane of the ball when he looked to create an opportunity 20 yards out.
