    We've asked you...

    • What is a good season for Manchester United and Tottenham?
    • Is Jose Mourinho the right man to be Manchester United manager?
    • What's going to happen tonight?
    • Can either of these teams win the Premier League this season?

Richard Fridl: 1. a good season for MU and Spurs would B to beat City and Liverpool twice and finish above them. 2. Jose Mourinho never was and never will be the right man to be Man United manager? 3. boring draw 4. Tottenham yes, United with Mourinho in million years.

James Smith: One of the strongest spurs line-ups I’ve seen in years.

Michael Devlin: Omitting Bailly is a total knee-jerk reaction by Jose. He’s the best signing in a few years. He had a bad game and he doesn’t even make the bench? Poor man management.

    Manchester United v Tottenham (20:00BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

It is not just recently that Tottenham have struggled at Old Trafford.

A run of two league wins on their last 28 visits stretches back to the days when Gary Lineker graced White Hart Lane.

That is the history Mauricio Pochettino's men need to overcome if they are going to extend their 100% start to the season tonight.

"We can change during the game. I was pleased after the last game but every opponent in the competition is different [with styles and formation].

"The most important thing is we are so flexible and can go from one system to another with zero stress. We're always trying to gain an advantage, so we’ll see what will happen".

Mike Erskine: You wouldn’t have guessed Utd were the home team tonight with those two line-ups. Fred, Matic & Herrera - Where’s the attacking intent? #coys, external

James: 1. For Utd, a good season is a trophy and challenging properly for the title. 2. Yes, if he is backed fully. Half the team are remnants from past managers 3. Scrappy 1-0 win for Utd. 4. Both have quality to challenge, consistency though.....

Michael: Not a MUFC Fan but live close enough to be in range of Jose's toys if it goes wrong. Jose has lost the plot here. MUFC appointed a name not a plan they got what they deserve with Jose.

Richard: Both teams have to finish top four, anything else is a bonus.

  16. 'No downplaying the significance of this meeting'published at 19:35 British Summer Time 27 August 2018

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Old Trafford

Lots of "nothing to see here" messages coming out of Manchester United amid all the talk of discontent behind the scenes - but manager Jose Mourinho hardly radiates the air of a man who is happy with his lot after a frustrating summer in the transfer market.

The abysmal performance in defeat at Brighton did not help so there can be no downplaying the significance of this meeting with Spurs at Old Trafford tonight.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino: "We are a big club of course, we need to be bigger of course and we are on the way to being a bigger club.

"But after four years, many people say we haven't won anything.

"That is history. We are trying to set the basis to win, we are breaking records about good results but of course it is not enough."

Manchester United will be hurting after being rolled over by Brighton. There seem to be some tensions there and there will be people with points to prove.

    Prediction: 2-1

Hugo Lloris has just made his way on to the pitch at Old Trafford, to the applause of the Spurs fans that are already in the ground.

He looks as if he may have a tear in his eye as the away end show their support for the France keeper after he was charged with drink-driving last week.

Lloris keeps the captain's armband as well.

    • Is Jose Mourinho the right man to be Manchester United manager?

Nathan Human: Absolutely baffled by people saying Mourinho is "made" for United. In what way? His brand of football? No. His longevity at a club? No. The fact he annoys all other fans? Ah, OK.

Andrew Priestley: Jones, Smalling, Matic and Herrera all in the same starting XI for Manchester United tonight. Count the number of sideways passes you are about to witness from the home side.

Thomashollern: Every season I hear that next season is Spurs' time to win trophies so surely Spurs will want to win something this year. Jose is the right man for Utd but not the right man for the fans. Tonight I see a feisty game with Utd winning.
