I don't know about you guys, but I was welling up watching Heurelho Gomes after Watford's quarter-final win over Crystal Palace.

The 38-year-old keeper is expected to retire after today's game so he didn't mind giving us the truths about some of his team-mates...

You could see an upset because this is the nature of this completion, it's what happens in cup finals all over the world. But what Pep Guardiola has brought to Manchester City is a high level of performance. You know they will play well today. It’s case of Watford getting all the big decisions, playing with incredible bravery and players such as Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu performing well. But Manchester City are big favourites.

  3. 'I don't watch football'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

It is supposed to be every footballer's dream to one day play in the FA Cup final at Wembley, the world's oldest cup competition at one of its most historic stadiums.

Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue will be realising that dream when he lines up today but the 30-year-old Frenchman readily admits the showpiece final is not ordinarily a game to get him excited - and says he had never even heard of the competition until he left Toulouse to join Tottenham in 2015.

"I don't watch football, I didn't know about the FA Cup even when I was playing in France," he said.

Erm...? Read more from him here.

    Shaun Wright-Phillips
Ex-Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips on BBC Radio 5 Live's Friday Football Social

Watford have got to keep moving the way they are. They've got to hold onto the key players and add a bit more depth. Leicester and Wolves can make key substitutions but with Watford that’s a bit far stretched.

    Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC One

They've had their excitement in the semi-final, they will have gone through all the preparations this week and it's important to try and keep a lid on everything in the run up to the game.

Especially from Watford's point of view, it's important that they stay focused and in the moment. And I think from what Javi Gracia's done so far this season, they will do.

  14. How do you prepare a team for a cup final?published at 15:53 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

    Roberto Martinez
    Belgium manager on BBC One

You have to allow the players to prepare in their own way and make it as normal as you can. The fact you play the semi-final at Wembley helps to prepare for the final as you are not going into the unknown. They have also played Tottenham here so the players are used to coming to Wembley. But it is still the final and you need to get rid of that feeling of the big occasion in your performance.

BBC Sport live text commentator at Wembley Stadium

Troy Deeney stands alone in the centre-circle, club suit on, making a phone call long after his team-mates have disappeared back into the stadium. And why not?

In a little over an hour he'll be leading his side out for an FA Cup final. And there's something he wouldn't have dared dream of just a few years ago.

In the match programme, Deeney says he's lost two-and-a-half stone this season and can "lose another stone at least."

  18. Will Kompany shoot from 30 yards?published at 15:44 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, speaking to BBC Sport: "We've had a week to prepare, which is longer than we've had for a long time. We've been doing the right thing to be at our best today and I'm confident because this team is strong and focused.

"Watford are a big physical side who can mix it up. But they've got enough quality to play at times as well.

"It [winning the treble] would be an exceptional achievement. But we need to be a little bit steady with this one. We have to be clear it's not an easy game but when we prepare well and set our sights on something as precious as the FA Cup then that's where we're at our best."

Asked if he'll shoot if he gets the ball 30 yards out: "I might, I just might."

We're talking about the elite on a global scale for Manchester City. They've got a level of professionalism that we haven't seen before, in terms of winning back-to-back Premier League titles and amassing so many points.

It tells us Pep Guardiola's got a group of players who are able to move on from wins very quickly and refocus.
