The treble would be massive for City, especially coming off the back of the season they have had with Liverpool chasing them in the league. It is going to be tough, Watford are a good team, but one last hurdle and they can do it.

It's been 35 years since Watford were last in the FA Cup final.

Back then, Bob Wilson went on board Watford's team coach to interview manager Graham Taylor.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Duran Duran were riding high in the UK singles' charts.

And Sir Bobby Charlton, Jimmy Hill and Lawrie McMenemy were in the BBC studio at the old Wembley.

Check out the video above to see what the world looked like in 1984.

THAT final. When Wigan beat Man City in 2013... (Roberto Martinez was the manager that day).

Remember it? Wigan claimed the first major trophy in their 81-year history when Ben Watson's last-minute goal won the FA Cup final at Wembley.

It was one of the biggest shocks in the competition and means City have not been able to win the trophy for eight years.

Will the memory of that game boost Watford's confidence?

So many times in the Premier League you play not to lose so today is a day to enjoy. But most of all today is about mentality. If your mentality is not right and you do not have the belief, all the other elements are irrelevant.

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Football Focus: "It’s one of the best groups I have ever trained in my life. They are complete heroes for me. We have had one midweek off in five months, that is incredible.

"I think they push me, I push them and my staff push everyone. Of course they have something special inside them, but at the same time we are there to help. Even when you’re winning you have to correct more, put more emphasis on what you can do better."

On the FA Cup: "My first memory from watching in Spain is Liverpool at Wembley, when they came in with the white suits. When I came here and I read about the FA Cup, the oldest cup competition in the world, something like 700 teams from the beginning, it is special. I love English football for the way it maintains traditions so I hope we can maintain that."

The standards are set at the top with Pep Guardiola. Not only does he employ slick, passing football on the field but standards off it. As a manager you are a leader and a teacher, he has been able to motivate and set those standards for his players. You create this environment and culture in that as soon as you win, it is not enough and you want to win again.

The competition kicked off with over 4,000 teams across 240 venues in February, with winners making it through to the semi-finals a month later. Then in April teams in 15 categories were crowned FA People’s Cup winners after the finals at St. George’s Park.

You need to believe you can come into a final and win it. Watford need the winning mentality that City has. They won the Community Shield in August, another trophy in February and then the league last weekend; it shows a relentlessness and hunger. It is quite outstanding. But it is a final and Watford will come here thinking they can win it.

It’s ridiculous when you think the age I am and how many games I played and have seen, and you’ve got the FA Cup and you’re thinking 'let’s get it on, let’s get it here today'. Would I love to be playing? Good grief.

It’s been a great season. The biggest progress we’ve made is we stay in games a lot longer. In previous seasons we’ve looked quite frail and have thrown games away late on.

Starting a season with the same manager we finished last season with has proved to be a catalyst to where we are today.

  14. Dreams and hopes for Hornetspublished at 13:30 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

There's so much at stake today for Watford.

Not only are they aiming to win their first piece of silverware since lifting the League One trophy back in 1998, it would be considered one of the biggest shocks since Wigan beat City 1-0 in 2013.

But that's not all! If the Hornets, who finished 11th in the Premier League table, win a first ever FA Cup, they will earn a place in next season's Europa League.

A European spot for a team who, four years ago were playing the likes of Blackpool and Rotherham, and two years ago were knocked out of the FA Cup at Millwall, is absolutely bonkers, right?

Watford finished 48 points behind City in the league so it would be an incredible achievement and a true underdog story. Bring it on!

  15. City chasing history againpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side just keep getting better and better.

Last week they held their nerve to beat Brighton, hold off rivals Liverpool and retain the Premier League title - the first side to do so since Manchester United in 2008-09.

And having beaten Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup final in February, City have a chance to add a third trophy to their haul today.

No men's team has won all three major domestic competitions in one season in England (Manchester United famously won a Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Treble in 1999).

City already have five FA Cup trophies to their name but their last came in 2011 after they lost that memorable final in 2013.

  17. Some European permutations...published at 13:22 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

While Manchester City and Watford battle it out for the trophy, fans of Wolves and Manchester United will be watching on with interest.

After knocking them out in dramatic fashion in the semi-finals, you can't blame Wolves fans for wanting Man City to win. But there's more at stake.

If City win, having already qualified for the Champions League, then Wolves - as the team who finished seventh in the Premier League - will qualify for Europe for the first time since 1980.

They would go into the second qualifying round of the Europa League. That would see Manchester United, who finished sixth in the Premier League, qualify for the Europa League group stage, the first game to be played on 19 September.

But if Watford win, that changes everything. Wolves would miss out on the Europa League and United would go into the second qualifying round, which starts on 25 July.

So both Wolves and Man United need City to win...

  20. How they got to Wembleypublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 18 May 2019

Man City v Watford (17:00 BST)

Manchester City's semi-final win over Brighton was much more routine than Watford's dramatic victory against Wolves.

A goal in the fourth minute from Gabriel Jesus did the business for City and they had 70% of the possession as they held off Brighton fairly comfortably.

In contrast, Watford's magical comeback - which was inspired by a sensational display from substitute Gerard Deulofeu - sent the game into extra time in their semi-final with Wolves.

Troy Deeney had scored a 94th-minute penalty before Deulofeu's 104th-minute winner sent Watford fans into a frenzy at Wembley.
