Joel Matip's looping header threatens to sneak into the corner and Martin Dubravka is scrambling to get into position.

Sadio Mane manages to flick the ball off the backline, keeping it in play and it doesn't go out until the keeper gets his hands on it.

Absolutely fantastic finish, right in the top corner the goalkeeper had no chance. It was fabulous play by Andy Robertson to get it to Sadio Mane. They have been threatening for a while. Newcastle now need to settle it down and make sure that when they get the ball, they make the most of it.

Joel Matip thinks he is being held back by Jamaal Lascelles as another Liverpool cross comes in from the left.

It goes to VAR for a review but referee Andre Marriner doesn't give anything.

Confident...

Paul Dummett with the defensive goods this time. He slides in to block Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross from a dangerous position on the right of the box.

Liverpool are starting to pile on the pressure now!

Newcastle are happy enough to let Liverpool shuffle the ball out to their full-backs, backing their back five to win the ball ahead of Sadio Mane in the air.

Jurgen Klopp has wisely just shifted Divock Origi into the middle, with Mane going to the left. Instantly a threat.

Trent Alexander-Arnold curls a trademark delivery in from the right and Jamaal Lascelles does exceptionally well to head it away from Divock Origi.

Sadio Mane picks it up on the left but Origi heads it wide.

What we are finding is that Joelinton is coming in between the Liverpool defence. He was offside then but at somepoint that is going to work. Liverpool are playing some poor balls. They are still patient, they are trying to find a way around the Newcastle defence who have been rock solid so far.

Newcastle have had one touch in Liverpool's box. It was Jetro Willems' goal!

Joel Matip's piercing ball through is miscontroled by Sadio Mane. Liverpool just about manage to retain possession but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then gives it away.

Hmmm.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are looking for that long ball - another one up to Joelinton doesn't beat the offside trap.

Oh dear.

Jonjo Shelvey goes all Xabi Alonso and has a crack from the halfway line. It's fair to say the final product didn't match that of Alonso's...

It, er, wasn't particularly complimentary...

Liverpool's corner is aimed at Virgil van Dijk but the towering centre-back can't direct it goalwards.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's cross is then headed high and wide by Sadio Mane. At the other end, Jetro Willems' plays a lovely ball into the centre but the flag goes up for offside.

Good, patient play by Liverpool so far. There are some nice crosses in there. Certainly possession-wise Liverpool have more, but Newcastle are more than holding their own at the moment.

A bit of trickery from Sadio Mane gives Trent Alexander-Arnold space to fire in a low cross from the right. It comes out to Georginio Wijnaldum on the edge and he slips it right to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

His cross curls harmlessly on top of the net - Martin Dubravka watching it all the way.

You sense Liverpool are just starting to up their game. The passing is a little slicker and there's a bit more urgency.

Newcastle look well organised though. Joel Matip's pass is cut out by Miguel Almiron.
