    Harry Kane (53 mins)

    Spurs are level!

Lucas Moura goes on a searching run towards the Brighton box and the ball breaks into the path of Harry Kane inside the area.

The England captain's first effort is saved by Mat Ryan, but it rebounds into his path and Kane slaps it right-footed into the bottom corner on the bounce.

Relief for the hosts, and for Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham have Giovani Lo Celso, as well as Christian Eriksen, on the bench that they could turn to. I think Jose Mourinho will assess the next few minutes but if it still hasn’t turned around, then he’ll have to make a decision and make changes.

Better from Spurs as they move it quickly into midfield and then look to release Ryan Sessegnon, but the winger goes a tad too early...

Jose needs to be angry. The players he praised as he joined are letting him down (as they did Poch). There's so little urgency! Embarrassing.

    Paul, London

Time, for Mourinho to roll the dice. Eriksson,on,class act, will create the chances, for Spurs.

Periods of torrential rain, punctuated with injury concerns for both sides, may decide the winner at Selhurst Park.

We wait to see whether Lukasz Fabianski has passed a fitness test to return in goal after three months out with a hip injury.

Crystal Palace are short on defenders, with Gary Cahill and Jeffrey Schlupp still out of contention.

That was a great chance for Aaron Connolly. But the winger has his head in his hands.

Connolly finds space at the far post to get his head to a deep cross, but awkwardly nods over from close range. Could've been two...

Brighton clear and Spurs work it across the halfway line before going right to Serge Aurier.

Nothing doing down that flank, so back it comes once more. Good spell of possession for the hosts, but no way through the Brighton backline.

Not convinced by the free kick that lead to the Brighton goal.... If VAR can rule out marginal offsides.... Why can't it be used to look at the award of free kicks that lead to goals!?!

    Anon

Let me guess. Spurs losing so Eriksen comes on rather than start with him. Again

Tottenham haven't been that great in the first half and Brighton have created the better chances and deserve to be in front. VAR is there to do its job. You have to pick a point where someone is offside and if it's the armpit, then it's the armpit. Unfortunately for Tottenham, the next situation and Brighton took advantage.

Shivam: One could easily argue that Graham Potter would have been a better fit for this Tottenham side than Jose Mourinho...

Fred Crint: Maybe it’s just me but - Man Utd under Mourinho; hit the ground running followed by a gradual squeezing the life out of the team, at least playing style-wise. It seems to be Groundhog Day where Spurs are concerned.

Aston Villa v Norwich City (15:00 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa are a team in desperate need of some Christmas cheer.

They have won only once in their last nine Premier League matches, losing each of the last four. Villa boss Dean Smith has never lost five consecutive league games in his managerial career.

Villa only gave the former Brentford manager a new four-year contract in November that runs to 2023, and it is understood that rather than losing faith with the 48-year-old, the club's hierarchy are keen to strengthen his squad in January.

    Everton v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Goodison Park

There was only one person that could be on the front of today’s matchday programme and there’s a fascinating interview with Carlo Ancelotti on the legacy he wants to build at Goodison Park.

He talks of when he joined an AC Milan team who finished sixth the season before he was there and he ended up winning the Champions League and Club World Cup in a near-eight year stay at the San Siro. He also references ending Paris St-Germain’s 19-year wait for a French title.

“The project was really good at PSG and that’s what attracted me to the club - it’s the same with Everton,” says the 60-year-old Italian. “The tradition and history is an attraction - Everton is one of the biggest clubs in England.

“I’m really excited. I want to give happiness to the supporters because a lot of time has passed without this club winning trophies. Everton is a fantastic club and my dream is to bring them to the top positions of the Premier League as soon as possible.”
