    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Brighton nearly get themselves in a right pickle as goalkeeper Mat Ryan comes for a ball and then looks to let it trickle out. Harry Kane senses a chance but he is held off by Dan Burn and luckily for the visitors it runs away for a goalkick.

If it's the right decision, fair enough but how many goals can you score with your armpit?! It's ridiculous.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Spurs are straight back at it as Lucas Moura fancies his chances from outside the box, but the Brazilian miscues his effort and it wheels well wide of Mat Ryan's goal.

    No goal!

Harry Kane was offside by the width of thinly-cut slice of Christmas pudding...

GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Brightonpublished at 24 mins

    Harry Kane (24 mins)

    Who else!

One chance, one goal for Harry Kane.

It's a lovely through ball from Harry Winks and the England captain dashes on to the pass to slot left-footed beyond the onrushing Mat Ryan.

    Neat finish.

    Although it's going to VAR...

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Fulham keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The last few minutes Brighton have definitely come into the game. I think they have taken control of the midfield - the overloaded midfield. Aaron Mooy has been on the ball a lot and has been dangerous.

    Close from Aaron Mooy!

The Brighton playmaker works half a yard on the edge of the Tottenham box and whips a left-footed effort towards the bottom corner, but it's deflected just wide.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Bernardo and Serge Aurier go over inside the Brighton box together, like two kids sloshing around the park on Boxing Day with their new football... a few shouts for handball from the home fans but referee Graham Scott isn't interested.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Dele Alli and Ryan Sessegnon combine down Tottenham's left before Alli tries to find Harry Kane. Brighton have the Spurs skipper well marked, mind.

Spurs try to go right instead through Lucas Moura but Dan Burn does well to cover.

A few half-chances, but not quite come to life yet this one.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Ooo. Harry Winks dinks a little pass into the path of Dele Alli and it bounces awkwardly in the area - the Spurs man jabs a toe at it, and then tumbles, but Seagulls stopper Mat Ryan quickly scoops up to get rid of the danger.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Aaron Mooy is the man making things happen for Brighton, and he's linking well with Steven Alzate.

He finds the 21-year-old in space about 30 yards out and Alzate doesn't need asking twice to get a strike off on goal.

It doesn't trouble Paulo Gazzaniga too much, but that's twice the Brighton youngster has been allowed to get a shot away.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Brighton can work it nicely when in possession. Steven Alzate picks up from deep, feeds Aaron Mooy and the midfielder goes wide to Bernardo, but it's a poor delivery.

Plenty of space to progress for the visitors and under relatively little pressure there.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

    Chance?!

    No, Ryan Sessegnon is offside...

It was another direct ball over the top from Toby Alderweireld, but the teenager moved too soon and was flagged by the linesman.

Sessegnon's effort struck the post anyway after he'd gone through on goal with only Mat Ryan to beat. Warning for Brighton.

Endurance Aikpokpodion: Why is Christian Erikson on the bench when the team is struggling without him? Whatever his contractual situation may be, it's a lose-lose situation for Spurs, because the team is weak without him and they could rue those missed points eventually.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

    Everyone fancies a dig...

Brighton don't quite clear the corner well enough and Serge Aurier spins down the flank to deliver another cross, it ricochets out to Lucas Moura but his optimistic effort only reaches the edge of the Brighton box.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

    Dangerous from Brighton...

Steven Alzate shows swift feet on the edge of the Spurs box to lose Moussa Sissoko and make some space for a shot, but doesn't strike it well enough.

Tottenham counter down the other end and Harry Kane's inviting cross is touched away from Ryan Sessegnon, lurking at the back post, for a Spurs corner.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Tottenham like that direct, long ball forward under Jose Mourinho and defender Toby Alderweireld just overcooks his pass when looking for Dele Alli.

It skips through off the wet north London turf to Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Loser92: If Spurs can’t beat the Seagulls this lunchtime, they are really going to struggle to make the top four. Brighton are no mugs though, so the results of this game is far from a foregone conclusion. Big test for Jose Mourinho here.

It's only been four days but it feels like we've been waiting longer for Premier League football to return than a Gavin and Stacey Christmas special...

But here we go. Dele Alli gets almost 10 hours of Boxing Day footie under way.
