    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

Muhamed Besic gets an important tackle in on Mohamed Salah, who looked to have raced away following a long ball forward.

Sheffield United immediately break down the left and when the ball is fired in to the back post, Oliver McBurnie scuffs it. Alisson coolly keeps it off the line.

If Liverpool win their game in hand, they will be 30 points ahead of 5th place. This is a bit scary for other teams?

    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

Jack O'Connell appears to have a free header from the corner but he's pushed Virgil van Dijk to get the space and referee Paul Tierney sees it.

Andy Robertson then honks a pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold out for a throw-in. What was that!?

    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

'Shooooooooot' roars the Kop as Andy Robertson fires one into John Fleck.

Sheffield United go through the gears in midfield before Jordan Henderson concedes a free-kick.

How good has the Liverpool skipper been today, though? Dominated that midfield.

From the free-kick, Virgil van Dijk gives away a cheap corner, skewing his header behind.

If you're a Liverpool player now you'll be thinking just get through this half unscathed and prepare for the next game. This is like a training game now with Sheffield United frightened to lay a glove on Liverpool.

Imraan: Ref has kept this game flowing - plus the absence of VAR is the cherry on the top...

Rob Elpuchi: If you like football, how anyone can not enjoy watching this Liverpool team or deny they deserve the title, is beyond me. So exciting.

Sheffield United went after Liverpool early doors and tried to press high up the pitch. It looked as if that was the game plan, but Liverpool scored early and that negativity seemed to creep in as it often does when teams go a goal down early at Anfield - they fear the worst and don't want to be on the end of a hiding away from home. I still think they are a very well organised team and Chris Wilder will take many positives out of the game.

    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

    Liverpool are enjoying themselves now.

Georginio Wijnaldum nut-megs a defender while slipping it left to Andy Robertson, who then plays a swift one-two with Sadio Mane which carves open the defence.

Mane looks like he's going to fire in a cross but he tries to catch Dean Henderson out at the near post. It's just about bundled away.

    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

Oliver McBurnie leads an attack down the right for Sheffield United but the ball in is too heavy and Billy Sharp has to sprint to keep it from going out for a throw-in.

He ends up jumping over the hoardings and into the Liverpool crowd to stop himself from crashing into them.

SaidMadrid: Liverpool has the strength and the depth in the squad to dominate European and English football the next years as they did in the 80's.

Gunner49: Liverpool make it look so easy. Such fitness, pace and flow. What a pass from Salah. Mane Magic!

  19. CLOSE!published at 69 mins

    Liverpool 2-0 Sheffield United

    Ohhhh, this should be three.

James Milner waits and waits before flicking it out wide for Trent Alexander-Arnold. He also waits before firing an inch-perfect ball across the face of goal.

Roberto Firmino just has to tap it in but he doesn't connect with it! Mohamed Salah picks up the rushed clearance and Dean Henderson gets down low to his left to turn it around for a corner.

It's about the pass from Mohamed Salah. Can he find Mane with a weighted pass? Can Mane stay onside? He does stay onside and the timing of the run is quite brilliant from Sadio Mane. It's the goal that Liverpool needed as the game had gone flat.
