It is very brave from Italy but effective. They are very well drilled and everyone is buying into their tactics.

Switzerland are just not switching play quick enough.

The more you see of Italy, the more they convince you that they are a contender for this tournament.

That goal is only the second scored by Sassuolo midfield Manuel Locatelli for his country. His first came in qualifying against Bulgaria.

He left Milan to join his current club as a teenager in 2018 - something he has admitted left him in tears. No tears now, though. Just joy.

Locatelli may have finished it with a tap-in, but he started it with a wonderful volley pass out to the right side out to Berardi and he did some magic all by himself.

It was a wonderful goal and no less than what Italy deserve.

Italy will be hoping it's not something major that rules out Chiellini for the rest of this tournament.

He may be ageing but his influence on this team is massive. He thought he had scored and within five minutes he is off the field.

It gets worse for Giorgio Chiellini. He is having to depart the game. It looks like he has felt his hamstring.

That is just a huge handful of salt in the wound.
