As Leon says, there didn't appear to be a huge amount of intent in the handball, but an arm was used nonetheless. In fact, his eyes were shut.

I hate to see that, certainly no intent from Chiellini. It's the slightest of touches and how you can give that as a handball is beyond me. It didn't have any influence on the ball's flight or where it landed.

It feels a real shame to whip that away from Giorgio Chiellini. It would have been his first international goal since 2017. He even threw in a bit of a Marco Tardelli celebration too.

Switzerland enjoyed over 80% of possession in the opening five minutes of the game.

Normal service resumed now mind. The Italians are well in charge in terms of possession, territory, shots and very nearly the most important statistic of all, goals.

The defender did indeed make contact with the ball with his arm as he rose for the initial header.

Switzerland survive. For now.

I can't see how Switzerland hold out if it stays like this. They concede a corner.

Lorenzo Insigne is seeing a lot of the ball, dropping deep to collect before running at the Swiss defence. They could do with figuring out who is going to go with him when he moves off the forward line.

The Italian midfield are giving Switzerland no time and are right in their faces when they get the ball and winning it back.

Italy have been one pass away from an opening a few times now. They almost are again here but the attack ends with a shot from range that flies well wide.

Xherdan Shaqiri clatters into Jorginho for a free-kick. Little bit of Liverpool on Chelsea action.

I like that the Russian referee is letting this flow. There have been a few tackles other officials would have blown for. Not Sergey Karasev, though. Get up and get on with it.

Talk about pressing and a high line. Giogio Chiellini has just received the ball and passed it on near the edge of the Swiss box.

Italy smell their moment. The home crowd roar them on to wave after wave of attacks.

Italy are growing into this game and the front three are really putting pressure on when the Swiss are in possession.

Immobile should score, Spinazzola just hangs it up, centre of goal, Immobile was under no pressure but got his timing wrong and headed it over the bar - big chance missed.

Chance. The first real one.

It goes to Italy, who set Leonardo Spinazzola away down the left for a cross that is met by Ciro Immobile and headed over.

Potential openings at both ends. A pass towards Ciro Immobile is vitally cut out by Fabian Schar, who sets Switzerland on an attack that sees Breel Embolo released. He can't get a shot away.

Italy are bang up for this. That pressing game is already yielding results against a nervous-looking Switzerland midfield and defence.
