  1. Still no Verrattipublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 16 June 2021

    Italy v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

No Marco Verratti then. The midfielder has been recovering from a knee injury sustained playing for Paris St-Germain and now has extra time to get himself fully fit.

If his team-mates do the job tonight he can sit it out until the last 16 if required.

  4. Swiss denied by Moorepublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 16 June 2021

    Italy v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

Switzerland's hopes of a winning start of their own to Euro 2020 was undone by a superb glancing header from the bandaged Kieffer Moore as Wales fought back to draw 1-1 in Baku.

The Swiss may well feel a tad frustrated to have allowed the three points to slip out of their grasp as they were the better side for much of the contest.

Their goalscorer Breel Embolo was the best player on the pitch, as you'll get a hint of in the highlights below...

  5. Superb startpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 16 June 2021

    Italy v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

Roberto Mancini's side were mightily impressive in that tournament opener. Solid and unflappable at the back in that typical Italian way but also fluid and ruthless in attack.

No clinical 1-0s from these lads. They press from the off and go for the jugular.

If you need reminding of what went down in Rome, you can check out the highlights below...

Another Italian win tonight and they are guaranteed a spot in the next round.

It feels a long time ago since Italy got Euro 2020 under way and their own campaign off to a highly-impressive start against Turkey.

Before the game they were many people's outside bet to win the whole thing off the back of an unbeaten run 27-games long, but that 3-0 win had a few other people wondering if it might be their time again.

Tonight, the picture will become even clearer.
