Italy 0-0 Switzerland
And now Ciro Immobile (who knows this ground very well) is caught offside as he looks to latch on to a ball forward.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
Italy now with a period of possession. It almost comes to something too as a lofted ball finds Manuel Locatelli, but his header drops into the hands of Yann Sommer.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
I have to say, I'm enjoying this new pressing, attacking Italy. They used to grind teams down, now they look to blitz them.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
The Swiss are dominating the ball in the early minutes. But Italy break through Nicolo Barella, who carries the ball to the edge of the box before he is tackled.
Lively.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
Switzerland win an early free-kick that is swung into the mixer but headed away. They'll need to do better than that to crack this Italian defence.
Solid as a rock.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
Not sure what Granit Xhaka is playing at with his hair? Still, makes him easy to spot.
Italy 0-0 Switzerland
Formalities taken care (including a brief prayer from Xherdan Shaqiri) of and we are under way. Italy win and they and they are the first team into the next round. A Switzerland victory busts the group wide open.

Michael: Italy just won the anthems!
Loving the Italian suit game too.
Gianluca Vialli is still a very cool man.
The Switzerland lads aren't really singers. Just a few of them getting involved in the anthem.
No such qualms amongst the Italians, though. They have one of the best anthems and boy are they gonna belt it out.

Still hard as nails at the age of 36, Chiellini will now have appeared at a Euros more than an other outfield player for Italy.
He's now directly above Antonio Cassano, Alessandro Del Piero, Paolo Maldini and his defensive partner Leonardo Bonucci, who have all played 13 times.
His former Juventus colleague Gianluigi Buffon (17) is now well within his sights.

The Stadio Olimpico really is one of the great grounds of world football. We've just been shown an aerial shot of it in all its magnificence. It won't be full of course tonight. Sadly.
Should still be able to get some noise out of the fans, though. Here come the players...

There is a good chance if Switzerland do score that Xherdan Shaqiri will be involved. He has been involved in 50% of Switzerland's goals in major tournaments, scoring five and assisting three of their 16 goals in that time.
At the other extreme, Haris Seferovic has had 13 shots in five appearances at European Championships, including four in the first half of their 1-1 draw with Wales on Saturday. However, he's yet to score in the competition.

Before Switzerland can think about winning, they have to figure out how they can actually score against this Italian side.
Mancini's lads have kept a clean sheet in each of their last nine matches in all competitions, going 875 minutes without conceding since a Donny van de Beek goal for the Netherlands last October.
They'll also need to keep an eye on Ciro Immobile at the other end. He has scored 92 goals in his last 118 appearances at the Stadio Olimpico since moving to Lazio in 2016 - Immobile or Lorenzo Insigne are looking to become the first players to score in Italy's first two games at a major tournament since Christian Vieri at the 2002 World Cup.

"It has been a turbulent year for Granit Xhaka at Arsenal. In a disappointing season, in which the Gunners failed to qualify for European competition for the first time in 26 years, the central midfielder sometimes found himself shunted out to play at left-back.
"That would never happen with his country."
So begins a piece on our site by Lukas Vrablik, looking at midfielder Xhaka and how his divisive status at Arsenal is a world away from the heralded status he has for his country.
You can read the whole thing here.
As you'll see in the above picture, Xhaka has also opted for a new hair colour for game two.

The Italian media are certainly not taking the Swiss lightly.
TuttoSport.it say that “it will be a tough one” and that Swiss players Breel Embolo, Xherdan and Haris Seferovic may well create problems for Italy.
“Switzerland is strong despite not having any strong players,” notes, external Italian publication Linkiesta. “The Swiss are always present, they’re more or less able depending on the year, but they never have any great personalities.”
The Italian press is also looking back to past encounters between Italians and Swiss – both on and off the field.
La Gazzetta dello Sport tells the story , externalof a 1914 match in Bern which saw a few hundred “sunburnt, overworked, destitute” Italians come to support their national team: “They had to save up for days to be able to afford the tickets, but they wouldn’t have missed this for anything in the world… It’s payback time for the Italian immigrants forced to work inhumane hours in Swiss factories, humiliated, underpaid and insulted by their bosses… The Swiss arrive, dressed to the nines; the women carry parasols. They sit in the grandstands and glance at the loud Italians below with disdain…”
Italy won the match 1-0, and a football commentator at the time said: “I saw the rough, burnt faces of the hundreds of poor Italian factory workers in Bern look up, their eyes full of the most sincere tears of emotion.”

The current set of players have been labelled Switzerland's golden generation, containing several members of the squad that won the 2009 Under-17 World Cup and finish as runners-up at the 2011 Under-21 European Championship. Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and Liverpool playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri are amongst them.
However, despite qualifying for seven of the past eight Euro finals - one as co-hosts in 2008 - Switzerland have failed to go beyond the second round.
Time to step up.

Here is the Group A table. Looks very good for Wales, who are pretty much through to the next round after their win over Turkey (a victory for Italy wouldn't hurt their cause).
A win tonight and the Italians are certain to qualify.
