  1. CLOSE!published at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Newcastle 3-0 Rochdale

Decent chance for Aaron Wilbraham as the veteran swivels and shoots from a corner but it's always rising over the bar.

  2. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Shrewsbury 0-0 Bristol City

Shrewsbury win a corner as a shot by skipper Oliver Norburn is deflected behind. It is a poor delivery from the set piece, however, as it goes over everyone's heads.

  3. Postpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Newcastle 3-0 Rochdale

In all seriousness Rochdale play some lovely football on the eye and should be applauded for it, I guess. You don't concede goals like that under Keith Curle though.

Rachel T: Spurs score first? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

Dan Tinkler: Lo Celso. Very much needed goal after the miss against Liverpool.

  5. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Tottenham 1-0 Middlesbrough

Doesn't look like Middlesbrough are deviating from their gameplan despite that early set back. They are sitting deep and hoping to catch Tottenham on the counter.

  6. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 3-0 Rochdalepublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Miguel Almiron (26 mins)

This is why you don't play out from the back in League One...

Rochdale have a goal kick and play it out short, they go backwards from right-back and under pressure it ends up back at the goalkeeper's feet.

Robert Sanchez tries to pass it short again but can only play it straight to Miguel Almiron, who scores from eight yards.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Coventry 1-0 Bristol Rovers

Almost a way back for Rovers, as striker Jonson Clarke-Harris stretches to reach a cross and plants a header against the bar. Unlucky.

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

You see so many teams try to play out and it's an awful ball. It's got to go long.

Goalkeepers have got to be so proficient now at passing it out from the back but it's about decision making. You've got to know when to go long and when to play it short. Keep it simple in those early moments of the game.

Giovani Lo Celso opens his body up and tucks it into the corner, he makes it look so easy.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Shrewsbury 0-0 Bristol City

Nathan Baker connects with a Josh Brownhill corner but plants his header against the post as Bristol City go close to opening the scoring.

Richard Byrne: In my defence, I've been going to Anfield since 1971 but the game has moved on. The cups have become an anachronism which is reflected by attendances and prize money. Some people probably still pine for the Intertoto.

I'm expecting to see Jose Mourinho start to put that body of work together. It's been quite mixed since he's been here but he's a man that wins trophies and that's why he's come here. It's been a long time since Tottenham have won a trophy.

    Giovani Lo Celso (3 mins)

Oh that's a gift for Tottenham!

Tomas Mejías tries to play a quick ball out and ends up passing straight to Giovani Lo Celso, who runs across the area to before finding the bottom corner with a clinical strike.

Feel for those travelling Middlesbrough fans. Level for all of three minutes but there is a long way to go.

    Tottenham 0-0 Middlesbrough

    Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jose Mourinho wants to win a trophy because Tottenham are the nearly men at the moment. If he can deliver that, he answers all the critics, and that will be a huge thing for him.

    Matty Longstaff (20 mins)

That's an excellent touch and finish! Another testing ball in from the left wing, Matty Longstaff's take is wonderful, he spins and lashes in from about eight yards out.

Rochdale appeal for offside or a handball but get neither and it looks a long way home from here...

    Tottenham v Middlesbrough (20:05 GMT)

Excellent away following from Middlesbrough with more than 4,000 making the journey south. The Championship side are in good form and will fancy their chances of an upset.

The players are out on the pitch and we're almost ready for kick off.

  19. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 1-0 Rochdalepublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Eoghan O'Connell (OG 17 mins)

Breakthrough! A bit of Premier League quality from Matt Ritchie, who bends a beauty of a cross from deep on the left wing, it's between keeper and defence and centre-half Eoghan O'Connell feels that he has to try and clear. It's a lunge while facing his own goal and you can fill in the rest...

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2020

    Newcastle 0-0 Rochdale

So much possession but can Newcastle do much with it? They are going backwards as much as forwards at the moment. But here they do come forwards, a cross from the right is not dealt with too well and a header falls at the feet of Miguel Almiron.

The Paraguayan gets it out of his feet and hits a deflected shot which scuds back off the post and away!
