    Spurs 0-0 Southampton

First chance for Spurs as Son Heung-min beats the offside trap to run onto Eric Dier's pass. A few stepovers and he finds Ryan Sessegnon, whose first-time shot is at Angus Gunn.

Tottenham are already setting up three at the back with Vertonghen on the left side, Alderweireld down the middle and Tanganga on the right. It's certainly a different change from Mourinho.

  3. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Spurs 0-0 Southampton

Early break for Spurs but Tanguy Ndombele's attempted through ball is cut out. Tottenham are again playing without a recognised centre forward.

The last time these sides met in an FA Cup replay was 1994-95, when Spurs won 6-2 in a fifth-round replay after a 1-1 draw.

I'm sure we'd all settle for eight goals tonight.

It's always a pretty tasty atmosphere for this one to be fair.

  8. 'Spurs are more direct'published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Tottenham v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Emma Hayes
Chelsea Women manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think it's fair to say Tottenham now have less of the ball then they did under Mauricio Pochettino. It's a lot more direct from back to front, getting balls into the key players with less of a build-up.

It's a team that's a lot more direct and as a result of that, perhaps they are less vulnerable defensively because they are not turning the ball over in silly areas of the pitch.

  9. 'We are taking it seriously'published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl: "We didn't fight for 90 minutes with Tottenham at home to then go there with another 23. It's a very big game for us and that's why we are taking it seriously.

"Spurs are looking to get a trophy this season and it's probably the best way for Tottenham to get one. They will do everything to get into the next round, but so will we."

  10. 'The team is a little tired'published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs assistant boss Joao Sacramento: “It will be a tough game, Southampton have more than 24 hours to recover than us.

"The team is a little tired. We have some players we need to test, but we believe with the support of the fans… we believe they can be our 12th player.

"We’re expecting a very hard game against a team that press high, a manager who when he was in Germany always pressed high, he’s stuck to his philosophy and we can see his work right now.”

PJSweeney: I’d like to have seen Troy Parrott start up front, with Moura and Son playing him in. Sessegnon hasn’t done enough in my opinion.

  14. 'When I play PlayStation I don't make mistakes'published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wasn't happy with Raheem Sterling not being shown a second yellow card for diving in their weekend game against Manchester City.

"In this moment, the referees that are in the pitch are not making the most important decisions of the game," he added.

"I don't accept the mistakes by the video referee.

"When I play PlayStation I don't make mistakes, I only make mistakes when I'm on the touchline. The referee... can make mistakes and I have full respect for them because it is very, very difficult.

"When they have time on the VAR it is more difficult to accept and we are being punished, very punished by decisions of the VAR."

Managers complaining about replays. It's simple, towards the end of the original drawn game throw everyone into attack, you will either win or lose to a counter-attack Exciting to watch and no replay.

  18. 'Spurs have enough to win'published at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Michael Brown
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder on BBC 5 Live

Tottenham have enough quality to go and win this tie. Jose Mourinho has been put here to deliver a trophy and I think it's a great opportunity for them to go.

Mourinho is starting to get the bit between his teeth, that bit of character and arrogance and he probably feels Spurs are improving. I would have to say it'll be this Spurs side to win, although we have seen a massively improved Southampton team.

  19. 'A difficult moment for us'published at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho tells BT Sport: "We have the happiness of the [2-0] victory [over Manchester City] but also the consequences as we have injured players and are very short of attacking options because Lamela and Lo Celso are both injured from the game against City.

"Bergwijn, of course, cannot play in this replay and Dele Alli is injured. He is on the bench because he is a brave guy who wants to help the team. This is a difficult moment for us. I don't have many options to play any more [changes]. Southampton played on Saturday, an extra 24 hours and it makes a big difference.

"We have some signs of fatigue despite the happiness and I look forward to the game. It's a good opportunity for Eric Dier, he is working so hard for the team. Ndombele finally gets to play, Ryan Sessegnon is a kid and I'm always happy to give him an opportunity and Jan [Vertonghen] was on the bench the last two matches.

"This is the last effort of this period then we will have a week without playing. Let's go to try and win the game."

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

Tottenham make four changes from the 11 that started the 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday as Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon start.

Dele Alli, who picked up a knock in that match after a strong challenge by Raheem Sterling, is among the substitutes, while new signing Steven Bergwijn, a goalscorer at the weekend, is ineligible for this one.

Tottenham: Lloris, Tanganga, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Aurier, Dier, Winks, Ndombele, Sessegnon, Moura, Son.

Substitutes: Gazzaniga, Sanchez, Cirkin, Skipp, Alli, Parrott, Fernandes.

Southampton make just the two changes from the side that began the 4-0 loss at Premier League leaders Liverpool on Saturday.

Moussa Djenepo is ill and misses out and Sofiane Boufal replaces him, with regular cup goalkeeper Angus Gunn coming in for Alex McCarthy.

Southampton: Gunn, Bertrand, Bednarek, Stephens, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Boufal, Redmond, Long, Ings.

Substitutes: Lewis, Vestergaard, Adams, Vokins, Obafemi, Smallbone, Armstrong.
