    Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

Who'd be a goalkeeper? Replays show the contrasting fortunes of Adrian there as he made a brilliant one-handed save to keep Willian out and then shelled one into his own net seconds later.

    Go again.

  2. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

Tasty start by Newcastle as Nabil Bentaleb nips the ball from Gareth Barry's toes and looks to be in. Instead of having a pop himself he tries to square it to Miguel Almiron but it's a poor pass and the chance is gone.

    Reading 0-1 Sheffield United

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Madejski Stadium

Easy as you like for Sheffield United within 90 seconds of the kick-off.

David McGoldrick has waited what must seem like a generation between goals and he won't be presented with many easier chances than that to put a free header away under absolutely no pressure whatsoever.

Dream start for the Premier League side and not what would've been in the script of Reading manager Mark Bowen's team talk in the dressing room.

  4. Liverpool architects of their own downfallpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool had started brightly but that was an absolute shambles to give Chelsea the lead.

Fabinho gifted possession to Willian and then Adrian's attempted save was an absolute horror show.

    Chelsea encouraged. Liverpool rattled.

Eoghain: Too many games this season. Liverpool are just too tired. Don't think that will be the last mistake we see.

    David McGoldrick (2 mins)

He can't score in the Premier League but no messing about from David McGoldrick! Ben Osborn whips in a lovely cross and the Blades forward heads down and in.

    West Brom 0-0 Newcastle

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport at The Hawthorns

A great noise being made by both sets of supporters inside The Hawthorns as the game kicks off. Newcastle have over 5,000 supporters cheering them on, with a few inflatables referencing that er, goal celebration, by one fan after the winner at Oxford United in the fourth round.

    Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

    Jermaine Jenas

They deserve that. Chelsea have come out with real intent, playing on the front foot.

Adrian had just made an unbelievable save but he has got to save that. He's pointing at the others but that is his error. That was a shocker unfortunately.

    Chelsea 1-0 Liverpool

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

    That is a goalkeeping error.

Adrian pulled off a wondersave a bit earlier but that must have moved, he never looked like saving it.

West Brom 0-0 Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

Lots of pats on the back for Dwight Gayle from West Brom players as the teams line up in the tunnel.

Gayle scored 23 goals in 39 league games for the Baggies on loan last season but starts this one on the Magpies bench.

Steve Bruce's side are wearing an all orange strip.

    We're almost ready to go.

  15. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 1-0 Liverpoolpublished at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Willian (13 mins)

Howler! Maybe 30 seconds after making a wonder save Adrian has had a shocker.

Fabinho loses the ball on the edge of his own area, Willian takes it off him and leathers a shot straight at him. Adrian gets it all wrong, fumbling the ball into the back of the net.

You win some, you lose some.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

What a save! Pedro carries the ball downfield, Ross Barkley lets the ball run through to Willian and somehow Adrian keeps it out.

    Great save!

  17. Postpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

Now Ross Barkley rattles the palms of Adrian from a good 30 yards. Good open game this.

    How's your view tonight?

    Stanford BridgeImage source, BBC Sport

A good ball sends Sadio Mane in on goal, well almost, but he runs out of space and then at the other end it's Pedro who nearly gets in. He tries to find Olivier Giroud when a shot was on and the groans from the stands suggest Pedro has done that a bit recently...

  19. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

It's a decent game this - Divock Origi whips in a cross and Sadio Mane is close to meeting it with a flying header. Just too high though.

  20. 'Rudiger should have been expecting that'published at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC One

Brilliantly worked, but Rudiger on his heels should have been expecting that. I played with a player at Spurs, William Gallas, who used to get two or three goals a season at that back post.
