There's a great piece in this evening's matchday programme, which is a reprint of West Brom's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Newcastle in 1954, about the man who will "forever bind the two clubs together".

That is, of course, Sir Bobby Robson, who famously managed his hometown club Newcastle and played for West Brom for six seasons after arriving in 1955.

Robson, never a man to be lost for words, was perhaps inspired by the Baggies manager at the time, Vic Buckingham. "In his team talks, he would advise us to go 'la-di-dah-di-dah-BONK' which was his way of telling us to create purposeful passing movements and end it with a goal," Robson said.

"He would always get the bonk in there, just in case we forgot. There had to be a sting in the tail."

    Football: It's a universal language!

Chelsea's £71m goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is a man with something to prove tonight having been picked ahead of Willy Caballero for this FA Cup fifth round tie with Liverpool.

He has not played since he was dropped after the 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal on 21 January - the fact he was replaced by a 38-year-old free transfer saying everything about his unconvincing form.

Lampard will be assessing the likes of Arrizabalaga between now and the end of the season so this game assumed vital importance for his future.

You're as old as you feel, right?

Gareth Barry, 39, and Chris Brunt, 35, form part of West Brom's midfield and have a combined age of 74!

They have clocked up 922 Premier League appearances between them.

That's probably more than the entire Newcastle side.

It feels like Frank Lampard is trying to solve a problem every week and trying to get his best 11 out on the pitch.

Christian Pulsiic is a player that they miss but they are not getting enough goals - Pedro and Willian do not score enough and N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are not goalscorers.

They are not blessed with players in the 11 who can score goals.

Liverpool are a sensational side but if you put any of the silky sides like Paris St-Germain, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and they go to Watford and have a slight off day and Watford fancy it, every now and again that Watford team will win.

West Brom make nine changes to the team which lost against Wigan last Saturday. Charlie Austin starts up front as he did in the fourth-round win over West Ham and Chris Brunt and Gareth Barry take their place in midfield as Slaven Bilic reverts to his FA Cup team.

Subs: Al-Habsi, Krovinovic, Zohore, Townsend, Peltier, Tulloch, Fitzwater.

Allan Saint-Maximin starts for Newcastle after reports of a fall-out with manager Steve Bruce, which the club have denied. The French winger is one of six changes to the team which drew a blank against Burnley on the weekend.

Valentino Lazaro returns from suspension, while Sean Longstaff and Nabil Bentaleb are in midfield.

Newcastle XI: Darlow, Manquillo, Schar, Lascelles, Rose, Lazaro, S Longstaff, Bentaleb, Saint Maximin, Almiron, Joelinton.

I was looking at the side Liverpool played against Shrewsbury and never thought Jurgen Klopp would go too young against Chelsea.

I am surprised Virgil van Dijk is playing and Fabinho too. It is very attacking which will make for a great game of football.

Klopp will have asked, 'who wants the Watford defeat out of the system?' Van Dijk, Robertson and Fabinho probably put their hands up first and that shows the team spirit. You want to get back on the horse and playing again.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp left it to his youngsters to get to this stage with a fourth round replay win over Shrewsbury Town while he and the seniors enjoyed their winter break.

Klopp has made seven changes tonight but the presence of the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Fabinho shows we are entering the sharp end of the FA Cup.

Reading v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

    Adam Williams
    BBC Sport at Madejski Stadium

Two clubs separated by a division but both will fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.

Reading should be comfortably safe from being sucked into the Championship relegation picture despite their indifferent form since the turn of the year while Sheffield United may see a route to their European aspirations through an FA Cup run.

Seemingly both managers are keen to have a good crack at this one naming pretty much full strength sides. The Blades have some firepower to call on if needed off the bench while Reading are throwing everything at it with an unchanged starting XI.

  19. 'A hugely important game'published at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2020

    Chelsea v Liverpool (19:45 GMT)

    Chelsea

    Billy GilmourImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard tells BBC Sport: "Marcos Alonso is playing well and scored goals in our last two league games but defenders need to defend and the whole team will need to do that against the best team in the country.

"Billy Gilmour is playing because he deserves to play and how he has trained. It is a comfortable choice but a big game for him and I believe he can handle it."

On Kepa Arrizabalaga starting: "I don't want to make it political, it is a chance with the goalkeeper and it is a choice of two. Kepa has an opportunity to play his best, I have no doubts that he can come in and do his job."

A good time to play Liverpool? "You cannot give that answer, they are a great team and they lose a game which might give them a small lift in a strange way. In my mind we are up against prime Liverpool of this season, we have lost both games narrowly against them this season. it is a still a strong team and whatever team they put out it will be a test."

Most realistic chance of silverware? "Yes. A hugely important game at Stamford Bridge, with the potential of being a step away from being at Wembley."

A tie that could hardly get any more interesting just has.

It'll start with the team news, with Frank Lampard having committed to a strong line-up and Jurgen Klopp with a bit of a conundrum to ponder over his side.

He talked of a "restart" after losing at Watford, and that presumably means straight away, with possibly a more familiar team than was picked in rounds three and four.

With the title as good as won, now that Liverpool are free of the 'burden' of going for an unbeaten Premier League season and other records, they can freely attack on all fronts.

Add that to Lampard's pledge to go "all out for victory", and we have the potential for a cracker - with one of the big guns to go.
