  1. 'Brighton will be delighted with Potter'published at 22:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2020

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Former Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

For owner Tony Bloom it was a big decision to change the direction of the club, with Graham Potter who had done a great job with Swansea.

I think Brighton will be delighted with the job he has done so far, but they have a lot of work still to do.

You can't stand still in this Premier League.

  2. CLOSE!published at 90+4 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

This time Andy Robertson does play the early cross. Mat Ryan fumbles it under pressure from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Salah pounces on the rebound but with players all around him, he can't quite chip it into the far corner.

  3. CLOSE!published at 90+3 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Sadio Mane plays a better pass this time, feeding in Andy Robertson on the overlap. Mohamed Salah is there in the middle and wants the cross put in early.

It doesn't come, with Robertson instead pulling it back to Mane, who curls it inches wide of the right post.

Salah isn't happy. He wants a hattrick. But he holds his tongue.

  4. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Sadio Mane is too cool here. He waits and waits, gives the defender the eyes then tries to tee up James Milner.

Milner isn't expecting it and the pass is a bad one, allowing Brighton to regain possession.

  5. Postpublished at 90 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Aaron Mooy feeds it through to Aaron Connolly, who is offside. He isn't aware yet, despite the flag being raised, and Virgil van Dijk tracks back and gets a tackle in.

It's a risky one and a few of the Brighton substitutes are appealing for a penalty before realising the flag is up.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 88 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Joe Gomez drags Aaron Connolly to the ground after he's beaten by another lovely touch near the touchline.

He was the last defender and gets a yellow as a result but a quick VAR check for a red card is dismissed as he was far too wide for it to be considered a goalscoring opportunity.

  8. Postpublished at 88 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Lovely from Aaron Connolly, who gets the better of Joe Gomez with a brilliant first touch. He gets caught in two minds on whether to shoot or cross and ends up doing half of both - drilling it wide and too far in front of Neal Maupay.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 87 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Roberto Firmino is off. On comes Takumi Minamino.

  10. CLOSE!published at 86 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold plays a deep free-kick into the Brighton box, with Liverpool piling players forward.

Virgil van Dijk gets there and nods it back across the middle on a plate for Georginio Wijnaldum but he manages to head it over the bar from a few yards out.

  11. CLOSE!published at 85 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

What a goal this would have been!

Dale Stephens chips it over the back four beautifully, finding the run of Leandro Trossard. He can't control the volley, lifting it over the bar with Alisson charging out.

He just needed a bit more composure. Great ball, great run, lacking in end product.

  13. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Tariq Lamptey thinks he's fouled as he concedes a corner to Sadio Mane on the left. His boot has come off so he quickly shoves it back on as the corner is whipped in.

It bobbles around dangerously in the box, not quite falling for Mohamed Salah, before it's eventually hooked away.

  14. 'Henderson has been phenomenal for Reds'published at 21:56 British Summer Time 8 July 2020

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

    Charlie Adam
Former Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jordan Henderson was a young lad when he arrived from Sunderland for a big fee.

Sometimes it takes time to get used to a club but over the last five or six years he's been phenomenal for Liverpool.

He doesn't look happy as he disappears down the tunnel...

  15. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Alisson immediately tries to find Mohamed Salah with a quick goal kick but it's just overcooked. He would have been in!

Great idea and Salah applauds the effort.

  16. Postpublished at 81 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Brighton play the free-kick short to Dan Burn and it's whipped into the middle.

Georginio Wijnaldum's header almost falls kindly for Neal Maupay but Virgil van Dijk reacts well to nod it behind.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

On comes James Milner, who takes the armband off Jordan Henderson as he comes off and receives a hug from Jurgen Klopp.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 79 mins

    Brighton 1-3 Liverpool

Fabinho takes out Aaron Mooy on the left and goes into the book.

Jordan Henderson has picked up a knock. Jurgen Klopp will hope that's nothing too serious. James Milner is getting ready to come on.

A great delivery by Andy Robertson and Mo Salah gets across with a brave header.

At 3-1, with 15 minutes to go, it's a great opportunity for Liverpool now.
