    Everton 2-1 West Brom

There's a quick VAR check on a challenge from Seamus Coleman on Grady Diangana as the ball comes into the box.

Nothing is given but West Brom have a free-kick anyway outside the box.

    Leeds v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter

Because of the occasion, with Leeds back in the top flight for first time in 16 years and this being their first home game - even though it is Fulham who they played last year in the Championship - the atmosphere would still have been great and will certainly be missing today. You associate Elland Road with the intimidating crowd here.

Overreaction for sure. But a red card also for sure. You just can't react like that. Bilic also should know better.

    James - Stoke

Gibbs must have been provoked. Something must have happened as he isn't that sort of player.

Any way back for West Brom here?

Everton have looked threatening going forward all half. A little shaky at the back at times but with the man-advantage, surely this is heading towards win number three of the season?

Wonder if we'll hear Bilic yelling instructions from the stands? Time to switch to no crowd noise!

Like all WHU supporters I felt getting Diangana back was like signing a new player. Understood though that funds were needed to reinvest but this appears to be not happening.

    Everton 2-1 West Brom

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a real shame. From what I've seen of the first half, West Brom have given a good account of themselves. To finish it like that is a big disappointment.

    Bit dramatic.

Stupid? Yes Red card? Yes Overreaction for James? Massive yes

    Chris, Woking

If I was Slaven Bilic I'd fine Gibbs for that - for such an experienced player to get himself a red like that is criminal. Mountain to climb for West Brom now

  12. RED CARD - Slaven Bilicpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 19 September 2020

    HT: Everton 2-1 West Brom

And now the boss is off!

He's arguing with the ref as the players head off at half time and he's sent to the stands.

    Blimey.

Shambles for West Brom at the end of that half.

They are trailing 2-1 and are a man down after holding their own for 44 minutes.

It's something that's happened off the ball. Kieran Gibbs reacts to a nudge from James Rodriguez and pushes him to the floor with two hands on his face.

Need to see another replay but the referee was convinced and showed the red card straight away.

  15. RED CARD - Kieran Gibbspublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 19 September 2020

    Everton 2-1 West Brom

    What's gone on here!?

There's a collision with James Rodriguez and Kieran Gibbs is sent straight off. No complaints, a straight red and he's off.

  16. goal

GOAL - Everton 2-1 West Brompublished at 45 mins

    James Rodriguez

    There it is!!

This is why there is such hype around James Rodriguez and why Carlo Ancelotti wanted to bring him in.

Richarlison lays it off to him in the centre. He takes a touch or two, sets himself up and drills it low from outside the box and into the bottom right corner.

It's a moment of real quality and that's the Colombian's first goal in the Premier League.

Chris: If west brom can keep this up throughout the season I can see them comfortably staying up

Ben Kellow: Is it me or has VAR not been as controversial so far this season.

Richarlison makes a run in behind but Semi Ajayi does well to stay with him and puts it out for a corner.

Matheus Pereira nods the corner away at the near post and it's headed on further by Grady Diangana.

Darnell Furlong then does well to defend another long ball in to Richarlison. Everton are starting to count up these corners...

  19. Postpublished at 41 mins

    Everton 1-1 West Brom

Lucas Digne pings a diagonal ball over to James Rodriguez on the right. It's way too heavy and it should float out for a goal kick but Dara O'Shea doesn't get a call off a teammate and touches it behind for a needless corner.

Luckily, West Brom deal with it comfortably.

  20. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Everton 1-1 West Brom

James Rodriguez has hardly been in the game. He comes into a more central position now to pick up the ball and curls it in towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sam Johnstone is alert and comes off his line to gather it in.
