It's turning into a bad night for the two Madrid sides.

Real Madrid are losing at Monchengladbach while Atletico Madrid have thrown away the lead and are now losing against Red Bull Salzburg.

Still no sign of a breakthrough at Anfield. Divock Origi spins smartly on the edge of the area but he can't get a shot off and he's well tackled.

Better from Marseille, who were in reverse for most of the first half, as Michael Cuisance puts in a good cross and City have to defend smartly.

And in France too. No changes at the Velodrome.

Around 70% possession for Manchester City in that first half, it’s an absolute cruise for them.

They’re playing really well, Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling are all in good form and looking lively. But the home team still aren’t coming out - it feels like damage limitation and it shouldn’t be like that in a Champions League game.

Sometimes when you’re up against a team who are so passive you can get that way yourself but City haven’t been like that. They’ve had really quick, tight passing and when they’ve lost the ball, which hasn’t been very often, they’ve just got it back again. The only disappointing thing is that we’ve only had one goal.

On a brighter note, Liverpool haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last four Champions League home games. They’ve shipped eight goals in total across these four games, more than they had in their previous 13 in the competition at Anfield (7).

And in case you missed it earlier, Bayern Munich beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1, while Inter Milan were held to a goalless draw by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Liverpool have failed to register a single first-half shot on target for the first time in 51 home games in all competitions, since October 2018 against Manchester City in the Premier League.

And that was pretty rank too. No shots on target for Liverpool, and an injury to Fabinho as well.

Not the Marseille some of us grew up watching. Waddle, Papin and Stojkovic wouldn't have enjoyed that.

What a pass - a dream from Trent Alexander-Arnold as he clips one 45 yards onto the head of Takumi Minamino but he can't steer a header on goal.

We were expecting goals between Atalanta and Ajax and we're getting them as Burkino Faso striker Lassina Traore has doubled the Dutch side's lead in Italy.

The Italian side have scored 15 goals in five Serie A games so far this season, and scored four past Midtjylland last week so that game probably isn't over yet.

Elsewhere, Red Bull Salzburg have equalised against Atletico Madrid.

Marseille have tried to play the ball out from the back a few times and the vast majority of times they just give it away.

They don't look good enough to play out from the back. The keeper, Steve Mandanda, plays the ball out to a team mate and plays that team mate into trouble. They're just giving it away. You can't do that against teams like City.

That's more like it from LIverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri beating his man and finding James Milner whose shot is deflected away.
