HT: Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Arsenal have now failed to score in the first half in each of their last six home games.

They still just need the one goal to set up a meeting with Manchester United in the final however, courtesy of that precious away goal.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-1 Man Utd (Agg: 2-7)

Get ready Gdansk. Manchester United are on their way.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

No way through for Arsenal so far.

They have 45 minutes to find a goal.

  4. CLOSE!published at 20:49 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-1 Man Utd (Agg: 2-7)

That would have been a gorgeous goal.

Donny van de Beek is involved as he finds Cavani whose cushioned pass to Fernandes sees the Portuguese bend it just wide.

    Lovely stuff.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Corner to Arsenal with a minute of added time to go before the interval.

What a time this would be to score...

Nope. Martin Odegaard's cross is met by a Villarreal head before the referee blows for a free-kick to the visitors.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The fact that Arsenal only need one goal is possibly affecting them - all of a sudden you get to half-time and you look at each other and think 'hang on we need a goal' and it gets a bit worrying. They haven't put the Villarreal defence under enough pressure or tried to get the goal when they can.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Three minutes of added time to come at the end of the first half at the Emirates.

It's shaping up to be a HUGE second half for Mikel Arteta's side.

  8. Postpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-1 Man Utd (Agg: 2-7)

Just look at that aggregate scoreline.

    Manchester United 7 (SEVEN).

  9. Postpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Not long to go until the break. Arsenal look to end the half on top as Thomas Partey intercepts a pass in midfield and sets his side away on the counter.

The Gunners break at speed, but Bukayo Saka can't produce a decent cross or shot and lets Villarreal off with a warning.

  10. Sensational Fernandespublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-1 Man Utd (Agg: 2-7)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

There was so much to like about that goal for Manchester United.

Pogba winning the ball, Fred's run, Cavani's finish. But the involvement from Bruno Fernandes was sublime.

What a signing he has been for United.

Andrew Morris: You can't give Cavani that many gilt-edged chances before he'll take at least one. That's the tie done and sorted now.

Dawesy: Job done. Let’s rest Fernandes and move De Beek up for 45 mins attacking position. Out of place on the left

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:43 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-1 Man Utd (Agg: 2-7)

    Roma aren't going quietly.

Another outstanding save by David de Gea to keep out Henrikh Mkhitaryan after Dzeko's clever pass.

Even Solskjaer enjoyed that. The United boss applauds his keeper from the sidelines.

  14. CLOSE!published at 20:42 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

    Better from Arsenal!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sets himself for a shot to the left of goal, but Geronimo Rulli eventually gets hold of it after his initial save threatened to bounce behind him and into the goal. That's Arsenal's first shot on target.

  15. Postpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

A chance for Arsenal to send a ball into the box.

Ex-Gunner Francis Coquelin commits a foul just inside the Villarreal half, allowing Martin Odegaard to send in the cross - but Pablo Mari's header goes out for a goal kick.

GOAL - Roma 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Edinson Cavani

Ole's on his way to his first final!

It's a wonderful move and of course Bruno Fernandes is involved.

It's Fred who produces the killer pass into the path of Edinson Cavani and he just lashes it past the keeper.

That's 7-2 to United on aggregate. They're not going to mess this up.

Paul Collins: Im going to say it. If we get knocked out here then given our league position Arteta should be sacked. I dont know why there haven't been many calls so far but if this was emery and we were in the position we are then we would be hearing calls for the sack already.

  18. De Gea conundrumpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

It is a bit of an oddity that in 2017, David de Gea was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Manchester United but didn't play in the Europa League final win over Ajax because Sergio Romero was Jose Mourinho's European keeper.

Now Dean Henderson seems to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's No 1 but De Gea should get the nod for the final of this competition later this month.

  19. Postpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Lee Dixon is correct, Arsenal need much more urgency in the final third.

The ball isn't being played quick enough in the final third, which is aiding Villarreal's defensive efforts. It certainly feels like the Gunners have another gear. Are they just pacing their effort?

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:36 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

David de Gea is emerging as an early contender for Man of the Match.

It's another quality save to keep out Lorenzo Pellegrini who can only look to the sky in frustration. That was fiercely struck but the keeper was well positioned to make the save.

Roma are knocking on the door. United are just about holding out thanks to De Gea.
