    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

This game is lacking intensity from Arsenal, they need to get a goal, come on - I understand being patient and playing your game but Martin Odegaard went to take a corner and he walked over. Why is he walking over? Get over there and put the pressure on.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Can Arsenal draw level in the tie before the interval? They're trying, but Villarreal look well organised. Hector Bellerin tries to get in behind, but his attempted cross on the slide is comfortably collected by the Villarreal stopper, Geronimo Rulli.

  3. Postpublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

Another chance for Henrikh Mkhitaryan as he does well to get on the end of a cross but can't steer his header on target.

    Was he offside?

By the way, Smalling has been replaced. Young Ebrima Darboe is on. That's a blow for Roma.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Not good news for Unai Emery and Villarreal.

Samuel Chukwueze is down, off the ball, and in some discomfort. The stretcher is being called for and his night looks to be over.

That's a blow - he'd looked a real threat for the visitors. On comes Yeremi Pino.

  5. Postpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

Chris Smalling is down getting treatment. This doesn't look good for the former United defender. Will he be able to continue?

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

    Aubameyanggg... almost!

Arsenal win a corner and Martin Odegaard's follow-up cross falls to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The skipper's cross is blocked but the ball comes back out to him and a second low strike hits the far post.

Matt Jackson: You can see why Van De Beek doesn’t get a game. He’s completely absent from that left side, easy for Roma to find space there.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:27 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

That's an outstanding pass by Bruno Fernandes and Cavani is clean through with just the keeper to beat.

He goes for power but Antonio Mirante produces an excellent stop.

That's two big chances for United's No 7.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

That would have been some goal!

Kieran Tierney takes aim from about 25 yards but slices his shot well wide of the target.

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

    Lee Dixon

Real heavy pressing in that midfield area - Villarreal are really putting the pressure on every time the ball gets into the midfield.

  11. CLOSE!published at 20:24 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Trouble for Arsenal. Villarreal have a free-kick in a great position here.

Thomas Partey commits the foul a couple of yards outside the box. It's central too...

And it's not far away! Daniel Parejo steps up and shoots a few inches over the crossbar with a well-hit strike.

  12. Van der Sar for United return?published at 20:24 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

There are some quotes coming out of Holland tonight apparently from Edwin van der Sar refusing to rule himself out of returning to Manchester United as Ed Woodward's replacement as chief executive.

Whether it happens or not is another matter but I do know there are plenty of people at Old Trafford who would welcome Van der Sar's return to the club.

The Dutchman is one of the few people who may be able to get the supporters behind the club again given his performances for United, which included reaching three Champions League finals.

Van der Sar is also hugely respected in the European game after playing his part in the demise of the European Super League plan.

There's some interesting news coming out of Holland tonight concerning off-field developments at Old Trafford.

  14. Postpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Bukayo Saka tries to spark Arsenal into life.

The 19-year-old drives in from the left, runs along the edge of the Villarreal box and attempts a chipped pass to Nicolas Pepe at the back post - but Pepe wasn't expecting it and it's out for a goal-kick.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

    Big chance for Cavani.

He's in a great position and tries to lob the keeper but it comes off the top of the bar.

That's the closest they have come yet.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

United are throwing themselves into challenges. Bruno Peres is left in a heap after a challenge from behind by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Out comes the first yellow of the game.

  17. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Understandably, neither side is going for the kill at present. The calm before a second-half storm?

Nicolas Pepe is almost played through by a long ball upfield, but a poor touch wastes the chance.

Tierney in for Xhaka. How can that not be a good start? That's a tremendous start.

    Phil, Horsham

I'm a massive Villarreal fan living in West London. I'm so nervous I could throw up! Hala Villarreal!

  19. Postpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

    Arsenal 0-0 Villarreal (Agg: 1-2)

Plenty of passes being put together by both sides but not too much in the way of chances in the opening 15 minutes.

Bernd Leno does well to calmly deal with Thomas Partey's pass back, for which the midfielder apologises to his keeper. Mikel Arteta breathes a sigh of relief.

  20. Postpublished at 20:16 British Summer Time 6 May 2021

Roma 0-0 Man Utd (Agg: 2-6)

Edinson Cavani is very fortunate to escape an early booking. He tries to trip up Ibanez before bundling his opponent to the ground. The referee is having words but he's keeping his cards in his pocket for now.
