Uefa and the FA now need to back up their words, 'Football is for the fans' etc, by proving it and moving the Champions League final to Wembley, otherwise that statement is at best disingenuous or worst a complete fabrication.

Roma make four changes in the hope of spinning this tie on it's head.

Goalkeeper Pau Lopez is replaced by Antonio Mirante after the number one choice picked up an injury early on in the first-leg. While former Chelsea forward Pedro, defenders Gianluca Mancini and Bruno Peres also join the fray.

So it's Manchester v London in the CL, and could be Manchester v London in the EL... so within the realms of possibility that the Super Cup could be a Manchester or London derby.

If Arsenal do get the job done and we end up with an all-English Europa League final, it would mean an all-English Uefa Super Cup on 11 August at Windsor Park in Belfast.

Manchester United have a tough run of fixtures in a very short period. The good thing is they are all but going to be in the Europa League final so they can rest one or two players for the Premier League matches. They have probably done enough to secure a top four place.

Yes, it will be a bit of a blow for Ole when he looks at his side's remaining fixture schedule. But he's clever and he's got a very good squad to work with. He'll manage.

This game in Rome kicks off what is now a busy schedule for Manchester United, who are second in the Premier League table, and will have to play four games in eight days, including a trip to Aston Villa on Sunday.

United's postponed home Premier League match with Liverpool has been rearranged for Thursday, 13 May (20:15 BST).

The decision means United must play two games in the space of 50 hours as their home game against Leicester has been moved forward a day to Tuesday, 11 May.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will take the "biggest step forward" if they reach the Europa League final.

Villarreal won the first leg in Spain a week ago, but Nicolas Pepe's second-half penalty handed Arteta's side a crucial away goal.

"It's a big moment," the Spaniard said.

"Not for me but for the club, for everything that has happened in the last two years, in the last months."

  12. Team news - Aubameyang startspublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 6 May 2021
    Breaking

    Arsenal v Villarreal (Agg: 1-2, 20:00 BST)

Arsenal make two changes from the first leg, the most significant of which sees Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Dani Ceballos' suspension dictates a shuffling of the pack, with Emile Smith Rowe dropping into midfield and Aubameyang up top.

The other switch sees Hector Bellerin start at right wing-back, taking the place of Calum Chambers. Granit Xhaka is again part of the defence.

Kieran Tierney is on the bench.

Villarreal also make two changes, both enforced.

On-loan Tottenham defender Juan Foyth has a hamstring injury and so Mario Gaspar starts at right-back.

Etienne Capoue is suspended following his red card in the first leg and so a familiar face to Arsenal takes his place in midfield. Francis Coquelin made over 150 appearances for the Gunners between 2008 and 2018.

And if Arsenal overturn a narrow deficit against Villarreal, we can all start waxing lyrical how wonderful the Premier League is.
