  1. Mahrez quick off the markpublished at 9 mins

    Man City 1-0 Burnley

That is only the second Premier League goal Manchester City have scored inside the first 15 minutes of a game this season.

Riyad Mahrez got the other one as well, against his former club Leicester.

City lost that day. I don't see Burnley winning this 5-2.

Brilliant goal. It was bad play out from the back with too many players forward. It is one-way traffic at the moment.

    Man City 1-0 Burnley

Riyad Mahrez has scored five goals in his last four Premier League appearances against Burnley, while he’s only netted more overall in the competition against Watford (7) than he has versus the Clarets (6).

    Riyad Mahrez

Disaster for Burnley who are punished for giving the ball away.

City sweep forward and Riyad Mahrez shows real quality as he bends it beyond Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

James Tarkowski was the guilty party for gifting possession, Kevin de Bruyne marking his return with the assist.

Lovely stuff by Ferran Torres who creates space for himself before launching it towards the net. It's just a fraction wide.

It should be an interesting game. The way Burnley have started, they are just launching it, trying to put pressure on City straight away.

  7. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Man City 0-0 Burnley

An early touch for Bailey Peacock-Farrell. That will calm the nerves. The free-kick is eventually cleared but City are straight back on the prowl.

  8. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Man City 0-0 Burnley

Two Premier League debuts for Burnley in the shape of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Josh Benson.

City are off to a predictable start. They've kept the ball pretty much from the start and have won themselves a free-kick just outside the box.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Man City 0-0 Burnley

As across all Premier League games this weekend, the players take part in a minute of applause for Diego Maradona. They take a knee for Black Lives Matter, the whistle blows and away we go.

  11. 'I think the decisions were right'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2020

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "We are used to armpits. We have a toe today. It is how it is. I think the decisions were right.

"You try to create a headline. The ref whistled it. You try always, all the time. Today I say it wasn’t a penalty. What do you want me to say? I said it was a penalty because the ref whistled it, after watching it.

"I couldn’t be more proud of the boys for how they played today. We struggled a bit in the first half an hour with the new last line, because we didn’t drop in the right time. We sorted that but in the second half we had some problems with energy. In the situations around the goals, we were brilliant. Mo’s goal was a brilliant goal. Sadio’s header was outstanding. All good, it’s just tough times. That’s how it is.

"Matt Phillips played an exceptional game, honestly. You always need a bit of luck to win a tough away game, but today we didn’t have luck. I thought the front three played really well together."

On Mohamed Salah's reaction to being taken off: "If Mo is smiling when he leaves the pitch then something’s wrong. We have to be careful, he doesn’t like that, but that’s it."

    Burnley

Burnley defender Ben Mee: "You can feel the confidence building. The performance in our last game against Crystal Palace was all about getting back to being solid and being resilient. Today is a big challenge for us. Manchester City have got some fantastic players so we are going to have to defend as a team and a unit."

Josh Benson will be elated to be given his Premier League debut by Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

The former Arsenal man has impressed observers at Turf Moor with his ability.

He has just got to shut down Kevin de Bruyne today.

    What could possibly go wrong?

This could be an awfully long 90 minutes for the likes of Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

Burnley have conceded a total of 22 goals on their previous five visits to the Etihad.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for Sean Dyche's side.

They've kept clean sheets in their last two away games against Brighton and West Brom.

Manchester City defender John Stones, who makes his first Premier League appearance since 21 September: "Beating Olympiakos in midweek was a good chance to get back to winning ways. We now want to bring that back to the Premier League.

"We need to keep picking up points and playing well as a team. It is frustrating when we don't play to our potential and the high standards that we set ourselves. We are always striving to do better.

"Going to back to basics sometimes can help get us back to where we want to be."

I know the old adage goes that you should only look at the table after 10 games but the way every team is dropping points this season I'm not even sure we'll be any the wiser who's in the title race after 20 games!

Good to see the Liverpool conspiracy brigade out in force again. When the dodgy VAR decisions go for them its all fine and dandy but as soon they get burnt they crack out the water works.

    Tom, Birmingham

Liverpool fans complaining that it's bias against them! What about all the bias Liverpool had for them last season?! You Liverpool fans have very short memories

It is a pretty grim afternoon in Manchester, virtually dark already as we approach kick-off.

As with other Premier League grounds, a tribute will be paid to Diego Maradona ahead of kick-off.

This will be especially poignant for Sergio Aguero. The City striker was married to Maradona's daughter and though that relationship did not last, the man many believe to be the best player ever was grandfather to Aguero's son.

    Talking of Sergio Aguero...

He's not involved at all today after suffering a 'slight' setback after only just recovering from injury.

Not the news Pep Guardiola wanted to hear.

I think Pep Guardiola signed a new contract because he’s going to have a war chest. He knows he has to bring someone else in next to Sergio Aguero. He’s 32 now, he hasn’t signed another contract. His injuries keep cropping up.

    Thumbs up for Diogo Jota.

    Thumbs down for Ferran Torres.
