I love Salah's response at being taken off, he wants to play all the time and score by himself, it's what makes him the great player he is I guess.

Salah's attitude stinks, Henderson, Mane, Firmino all benched at some point this season, they just get on with it. Flog him to Madrid and Jota is the replacement.

    Alex, Salisbury

If one game could sum up Adam Lallana's career. Such a shame.

    Dan, London

  4. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 85 mins

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

This is clear cut. Sadio Mane moved too early and is clearly offside when the free-kick is taken.

Still life in the game yet.

Colin Bundred: These guys are going down like flies, it’s a bit ridiculous. They need to look at other sports, rugby, ice hockey etc. Much more physical sports with far fewer injuries.

Ayoade Oluwasanmi: If they’re dropping like flies with injuries now, what’s going to happen during the Christmas and New Year period?

Taylor Moyes: The last player I remember to hit the ground running with a new team like this was when Diego Costa joined Chelsea.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 83 mins

    Brighton 0-1 Liverpool

Diogo Jota is left in a heap by a challenge from Ben White, who got the ball but gets a yellow card regardless.

Oh, well done Andy Robertson. Solly March's cross from the left swings in front of Alireza Jahanbakhsh (who should get a goalbound touch but fails) and would be an easy tap in for Welbeck, but the Liverpool defender is there to lift the ball over his own bar.

Curtis Jones is playing at right-back. Showing his versatility.

This is getting silly now. Phillips is down and looking groggy after a tumble. Liverpool aren't gonna have a defender on the pitch at this rate. Wonder what Jurgen will want to talk about after this?

Phillips eases his manager's blood pressure by returning to the action after some treatment.

Dr Damian Fogarty: Really Graham Potter? Taking off Connolly, your biggest threat. Time will tell but surely Lallana & Connolly were the chance to get even.

Sho: Connolly coming off makes zero sense. Liverpool defenders struggling massively with his pace.

Phil Bayley: A player who hit the ground running as well as Jota? I guess you'd have to go deep into football history to find the name Bruno Fernandes.

Dropping like flies. James Milner is down now and doesn't look in a good way. Looks like a muscle injury.

Lallana really can't catch a break. On in the 63rd minute, off in the 70th. His body just keeps letting him down.

Jota: It's him again! And it is absolutely brilliant. But hold on, after a VAR check it’s been awarded as an own goal and Brighton have a 1-0 lead.

    Steve, Nottingham

Can't remember the last player who hit the ground running quite so efficiently for a new club? Mo Salah, surely?

    Lee

Not remembering a player hitting the ground running at LIV? The man with the assist, wasn't that long ago.

Abdul Momodu: Jota, what a fantastic acquisition for Liverpool. He wasn’t a spectacular player in that Wolves team but he has done more in this star-studded Liverpool team.
