    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Yves Bissouma is down now for Brighton. They've already lost Maupay, so losing another man before the break would be a real kick in the teeth.

Takumi Minamino has buzzed around but not hugely impacted the game yet. He tries to do just that, though, with a shot from outside the box. It is on target but an easy save for Mat Ryan.

David Williams: We need to get Salah to cut his toenails at half time, that would’ve been onside otherwise!

    London Money: VA ....aaarghh!!

Abu: I just don't get these officials...Offside wasn't created to stop a striker being a cm ahead of the last defender........

    Great minds, Dave.

    Chalked off!

If Salah had cut his toe nails this morning he'd have been on. The lines pick out the finest of margins by which the Reds forward is off and back to 0-0 we go.

They are checking to see if Salah is offside. Oh, it's gonna be tight is this one...

  7. goal

GOAL - Brighton 0-1 Liverpoolpublished at 35 mins

    Mohamed Salah

Completely against the run of play. Mohamed Salah is sent in behind the Brighton defence and makes no mistake with a finish into the turf that bounces over Ryan and in.

    Hold your horses though...

  8. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Brighton continue to be the more creative of the two sides. Leandro Trossard's first real involvement sees him cut inside from the left and fire a shot just past the far post.

Ilyas Najb: If someone who didn’t know anything about football watched this game and they got told the champions are playing, that person would think it’s Brighton who are the champions.

Daryl Wing: Put the penalty wide and now off with an injury. That's 2020 for you.

Tom McCarron: Games like this make you realise just how good and important Jordan Henderson is.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

We've not seen much of Liverpool going forward for a while now. James Milner tries to release Salah down the right but there is just a bit too much on his pass, allowing Mat Ryan to come out and gather.

  11. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool can't say they haven't had a bit of luck so far this season where penalties are concerned. Maupay is the second player to miss the target with a penalty against them, after Kevin de Bruyne for Man City.

De Bruyne's penalty was actually the first to miss the target in a Premier League game since October 2018 - when Riyad Mahrez smashed the ball over the bar in the reverse fixture at Anfield.

VAR have a little look to see if Andy Robertson might have handled in the box during a challenge with Aaron Connolly. He hasn't though and play continues.

Leandro Trossard comes on to replace Neal Maupay. The Belgian is making his way back from injury.

  14. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Maupay has had a pretty dire few minutes there. Misses a penalty and then trudges off. I didn't see what happened. Could have just pulled up off the ball.

Albion are going to have to play with 10 men briefly.

Neal Maupay is down now and requires treatment. He doesn't look happy, and not just because of the penalty miss.

    Blown it!

Neal Maupay steps up, sends Alisson the wrong way and puts it a good foot past the post.

    Massive let-off for the champions.

  17. PENALTY TO BRIGHTONpublished at 20 mins

Golden opportunity for the home side! Neco Williams is at fault, with a clumsy challenge on Aaron Connolly. The ref takes a good look and points to the spot.

Albion having a nice spell of possession and attacking intent now. It was all Liverpool in the really early stages, but the home side have found their feet.

Alan Butler: Good idea Shaun [12:38], but only if it's a Brighton player.

Pete Nicholson: RE Shaun in Newcastle’s point, yes people would say that but it would be a flawed argument. What if they were playing a top four team?

Gibson Giant: Why is Neco Williams playing higher up than Salah at times?

  20. Postpublished at 17 mins

Ben White escapes a booking for a body check on Diogo Jota, who had taken him to the cleaners with a neat touch and turn. Don't think the Albion defender will escape a yellow for his next big foul.
