    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

For a second it looks like Connolly is in again. But Alisson is out sweeper-keeping to head the ball away from the Albion striker.

This is Alisson's 100th appearance for Liverpool. He is the fifth Brazilian to reach that milestone for the club, after Fabio Aurelio, Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Brighton have another go at the Liverpool goal, this time prompted by a free-kick from the left. After the initial ball is cleared, Albion lob it back into the box but Connolly is offside from Webster's nod on.

Maybe Liverpool have seen someone who can fit Gini Wijnaldum's role as a longer-term plan. Maybe they have seen someone who can move them on to another level.

For me, they have to give him what he wants.

To have someone who is versatile, that is constantly fit and healthy - I would give them anything they are asking in the contract talks to get them to stay.

Wijnaldum's role is to allow [players like] Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson] to express themselves. He is unbelievable.

Glorious chance for Brighton. Their first of the game. Aaron Connolly is sent through on goal but a neat ball through the centre of the Liverpool defence. He has plenty of time to weight up what he wants to do, opts to lift a shot into the corner of the net, but puts his shot wide.

I'm not sure they'll get a better chance than that.

It is not sticking at all for Albion up front. Neal Maupay battles to win a long ball forward but is beaten comfortably in the air by Fabinho. Liverpool go again.

The most ironic tribute to Maradona this weekend, would be a goal scored with a hand... Then ruled out by VAR

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

The corner is swung in but a Brighton man rises highest to initially get the ball away. Liverpool come again, but Andy Robertson over-hits his cross from the left.

Seen very little of the home side going forward so far.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

The visitors remain firmly on the front foot and Diogo Jota earns them another corner with a fierce but deflected shot.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool again. This time Salah does get the chance to shoot as he turns his marker to reach a Fabinho pass. He has just the keeper to beat but doesn't even hit the target. Should have scored really.

Remember, Liverpool were 2-0 up after eight minutes in this fixture last season. Salah scored the first of those goals.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool quickly into their stride with form man Diogo Jota tearing away down the left and curling a low cross that is designed for Mohamed Salah into the box. It is cut by a Brighton defender, happy to concede a corner.

The resulting set play is played short but comes to nothing.

As across all Premier League games this weekend, the players take part in a minute of applause for Diego Maradona. They then take a knee for Black Lives Matter, the whistle blows and we are under way.

    Brighton v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

It has not been all plain sailing for Liverpool either. At least not by their own ludicrously high standards.

They could go four consecutive Premier League away games without a win for the first time since a run of five between January and March 2017. They've also only won three of their past 10 top-flight away fixtures (D3, L4).

Albion did, of course, earn a first Premier League victory in seven attempts last weekend, beating Villa. Today they are vying to win consecutive league games for the first time in more than a year.

If things don't go to plan, they will set an outright club record on Saturday of nine successive top-flight home matches without a win.

    Look away now, Brighton fans...

Liverpool are on a run of nine consecutive victories against Brighton in all competitions, scoring 27 goals in the process. The Seagulls are winless in 11 competitive fixtures versus Liverpool since a 2-0 home victory in the FA Cup fourth round in January 1984. Brighton have never won a top-flight home game against Liverpool, drawing three and losing four.

For me the most amazing thing to ever watch on a pitch was Diego Maradona. I was 12 years old, not particularly interested in football yet, but had started to watch Mexico '86 on TV in Northern Ireland. Maradona introduced me to football in what felt like a spell binding way

At the opposite end of the scale...

Barcelona's players have agreed to wage cuts that will save the Spanish club 122m euros (£110m).

The 26-time La Liga champions have also agreed with their players to have about €50m (£45m) of variable payments deferred over a three-year period.

Their last accounts showed a 97m euros (£87m) loss while the net debt more than doubled to 488m euros (£438m).

"[This] will be a milestone of great importance to redirect the current economic situation," the club said., external

In March, Barcelona's players agreed to take a 70% pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic and make additional contributions to ensure non-sporting staff received full wages.

  19. How to restart?published at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2020

Getting some fans back in is a positive start of course. I mean, just look at the impact it is having on clubs in this country, especially down near the bottom...

Officials from the Northern Premier League, Southern League and Isthmian League plan to meet on Saturday to decide how to restart their seasons.

Levels below the National League can resume from Wednesday but restrictions on fans and sale of food and drink may make it financially unviable for some.

Clubs in tier three must play without fans and tier two sides must shut their clubhouses unless used as restaurants.

And anything bought as a takeaway would need to be consumed outside the ground.

  20. Depends on the tierpublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2020

Of course, going back for some still isn't an option thanks to the tier system put in place.

Arsenal have confirmed they will be the first Premier League club to have home fans back, at Emirates Stadium for their Europa League tie with Rapid Vienna on 3 December.

The first Premier League fixture to welcome fans could be West Ham v Manchester United on 5 December, before Chelsea take on Leeds later that evening.

Six English Football League matches could see the return of fans on 2 December with Luton, Wycombe, Charlton, Shrewsbury, Cambridge and Carlisle all placed in tier two.

In tier one, a maximum of 4,000 fans will be allowed at outdoor events - though no clubs are currently there.

Up to 2,000 people will be allowed in tier two areas but none in tier three.
