John Lundstram has been sent off in a league game for the first time since March 2016 for Oxford vs Stevenage in League Two.

He did get the ball but I fully expected a red card there. Excessive force I think is the phrase,

Liz Tray: This is why people dislike players. They are all liars. All of them. Claiming they never touched that guy, when they did. Claiming it was an attempt for the ball when it was totally out of control, OTT. Come on Lundstram. Come on.

Ourhandsaretied: Correct decision; clear red card. No idea why a yellow was shown to begin with. Dangerous tackle, irrespective of whether he got the ball first.

Just get through to half time I guess is the message of the day for the Blades now.

It was always going to be a red once the referee went to have a look at it.

VAR are checking this, it could be a red card. Lundstram gets the ball first but he then follows through onto the foot of Joel Veltman.

And referee Peter Bankes heads over to the monitor. John Lundstram has the look of a condemned man.

Oooofff! John Lundstram has flown into a challenge here. One of those where his first touch lets him down and he is always struggling to recover.

Chris Wilder has matched up Brighton's shape with that change. Burke is up front with McGoldrick and Brewster just behind him. It's worked so far too, they've had more of the ball.

That's very nearly a Blades opener though! David McGoldrick, scorer of two goals against Manchester United in the week, hits a low free-kick around the wall and it's going in until Robert Sanchez gets down to make a cracking one-handed save.

Instantly, within seconds, Oliver Burke runs in behind the Brighton defence and Lewis Dunk has to lunge in and bring him down. He's in the book and the visitors have a dangerous free-kick.

And another good chance for the hosts! Adam Webster heads down a corner, Neal Maupay has one shot blocked and then from the follow-up Ethan Ampadu makes a really superb block to turn it over the top.

Should be 1-0! Closest we've come. It's really weak defending from Jack Robinson, he goes down as Leandro Trossard turns him, looking for a foul that doesn't come.

Trossard picks out the fast-arriving Neal Maupay and his shot could have been heading in until Chris Basham sticks out a boot and deflects it into the arms of Aaron Ramsdale.

Aaron Connolly has got real pace and the Brighton youngster is able to sprint into the box and get a shot away - it's straight at Aaron Ramsdale though and he makes the save.

Neal Maupay needs treatment for an arm in the face in the build up. But thankfully he's OK.

Steven Patrick McNamara: David McGoldrick is a very clever footballer but not a goalscorer, Brewster was a poor signing for me. Lys Mousset or Billy Sharp better options up front
