More from Mourinho: "Some of the guys are very disappointed because some had a very good performance but we were punished by individual mistakes.

"Nothing new to learn, at the highest level you make individual mistakes normally you're punished and we were punished by individual mistakes so it's nothing new."

  3. 'We made the same mistakes'published at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho speaking to BT Sport: "It's very hard to resist so many defensive individual mistakes - unless you score four goals against Liverpool. Every time we came back the next mistake was coming.

"The first ball was the beginning of everything because in the first minute a mistake and then a chance for Sadio Mane. The team was confident, playing well, Son Heung-min goal was obviously offside, then when the game was stable and we were very much in the game and then comes the goal that is a replica of the first chance they had. So minute one and minute 48, we made the same mistake.

"At half time we lost Harry Kane and in the first minute of the second half another mistake another goal. Good reaction at 2-1, the team fighting and bringing Liverpool back and then one more mistake and it's 3-1. Very difficult to fight against so many mistakes."

Jurgen Klopp on Thiago playing further forward: "I have no idea who can play on Sunday but yes Gini (Wijnaldum) played six.

"Thiago is an incredible player but he is new, the start was not good for us - Covid and injured, usually you train with the team, he came on from a different club where they played differently, so we thought he could help us with a slight change."

  5. Reds end goal droughtpublished at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

Roberto Firmino’s opener ended Liverpool’s run of 482 minutes and 93 shots without a Premier League goal, since Sadio Mané scored against West Brom last month.

Firmino has scored in five of his last six Premier League appearances against Tottenham, including each of his last three against them away from home.

Since the start of last season, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has been involved in more Premier League goals than any other defender in the competition (21 – 5 goals, 16 assists).

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s strike was his first goal for Tottenham in all competitions, in what was his 30th appearance for the north London side.

  6. 'Calmness in a really hectic game'published at 22:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Match of the Day: "The mix of the potential of the attitude and the calmness in a really hectic game, being patient enough to play against a side which is a really counter attacking side, this threat hangs above you.

"But well protected, play proper football. The main difference is we score the goals, that helps not only for results but the momentum in the game.

"We missed massive chances against Burnley, tonight we knocked a wall down - that's good. It is easier to lose (confidence) that's how it is, but it is possible to get it back as well. It is not a light you can switch on and off. You have to show it in the right moment. The first chance Sadio Mane had for us, but we stayed on track and stayed positive. That is good and important."

  7. 'Today was about who we are, it was us'published at 22:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "I am delighted – it was a great game. Super intensity as we predicted. We scored the goals in the right moments, the right people scored the goals, so all good apart from their goal.

“What I saw today it’s not about shape or form it’s about who we are. That was us. Second half especially it was us, it was a massive fight. I don’t remember that Spurs had a lot of the ball but we defended it very well. A good performance and I saw a lot of things I wanted to see.

“You cannot really be sure that you will score goals like this in the second half because they made two changes but offensively we coped well with their formation. We played in between the lines and were so often around the box, the counter press was really good, we were high enough defensively but not crazy high."

  8. Kane injures both anklespublished at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

    Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho on Harry Kane's injuries: "Two ankles, the first was a bad tackle, it was Thiago, the second one I didn't know well. But two injuries in both ankles, the second one worst than the first one - a few weeks, I don't know.

"There are some players you can't replace. When it happens it happens but I believe we have to fight against it, we cannot do anything else."

  9. 'Some individual mistakes'published at 22:17 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to Match of the Day: "My analysis is that we started very well, but before we scored the offside goal we showed immediately what the game was going to be for us - a big occasion for Mane, a big defensive mistake.

"That was the game for us, the team in the first half was very well organised, the goal is another mistake in the same position.

"The second half we had to make changes, we lose Harry, had to change the structure of the team. First minute, same mistake, second goal. Good reaction, another mistake and goal.

"It was a team fighting against its own mistakes. Some individual mistakes that you saw, you can replay and I cannot say much more than that."

  10. 'We deserved that'published at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold speaking to BT Sport: "We needed that and we deserved it. We dominated most of the game, they had the goal disallowed which probably would've changed the game. We came with a game plan which we executed perfectly and we deserve the three points.

"Goals in games like this change the way the opposition play, they had to come out a bit more in the second half. We could find the space easier and we had our chances and put a few away.

"We've had set back after set back especially in the centre back area and Joel Matip played well and then Nathaniel Phillips in the second half - they have both done a great job which shows the quality we have round the pitch. For myself, it's always good to get a goal and help the team.

"Nothing has really changed, we're the same team we always have been. We have the same mentality going into games, we respect the opposition. We have the expectation on ourselves that we should win the game and it was a whole performance from the lads."

Jose Mourinho's biggest concern will no doubt be the fitness of Harry Kane, who had to be substituted at half-time. Spurs had just three shots in that game, one from inside the box.

  13. Postpublished at 22:08 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

The Liverpool boss is understandably delighted with his team's performance.

    More to come from him...

  14. Seven days a week...published at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    FT: Tottenham 1-3 Liverpool

Liverpool have won six consecutive league matches, and three consecutive away league matches, against Spurs for the first time in their history.

Liverpool have now beaten Tottenham in the top-flight on all seven days of the week, becoming just the third side to have done so after Everton and West Ham.

José Mourinho has now lost six home league games in charge of Tottenham, more than he has at any of his previous clubs.

All three of Liverpool’s Premier League away wins this season have come in London, with the Reds also winning 2-0 at Chelsea in September and 7-0 at Crystal Palace in December.

Chris Finegan: That's more like it. Bobby, Trent, even Milly playing 90mins in midfield. Thiago has won a match, as well. Great win and played well. Spurs were very poor.

I said a few weeks back that this season would come down to the Jurgen and Pep show. I still think so. Emphatic from the Reds tonight - bye bye blip?
