What was James Milner going for there? He's on the floor, and overhead kicks it back towards his own goal. It almost sends Son in on goal but Nathaniel Phillips gets across well.

Typical Spurs performance under Mourinho. Now have to put up with rubbish football which is ok if getting results, but we are not! Bringing on Lamela for Kane is unacceptable. What is the point in having Bale on the bench if you are never going to use him

    Chris in St Albans

Poor selection to start with, followed up by poor substitutions. Doherty at left back? Lamela and winks coming on over bale, Lucas, Vinicius? It's like Jose doesn't want to score.

    Sangers in London

Spurs players not on the same page, passes going astray, shoulders dropping. West Ham turned the screw when they were three down here, not looked back since... COYS

Space for Erik Lamela to drive into but he overruns it and Nathaniel Phillips comes across to take the ball back and now Liverpool can break.

Curtis Jones sends Mo Salah down the right, he wants the return but the Egypt forward can't find him. Just over did it.

Andy Goldman: James Milner, 35 years old, 550 PL apps, still absolutely class. Fair play

Finn_kid: Spurs have no identity without Kane. Watch Tottenham's season plummet from this point on.

Ed Dymott: For a team managed by someone lauded for being the defensive master, our defence has been absolutely shocking. All 3 are gifts for Liverpool.

Tanguy Ndombele swivels with the ball and looks to release Son Heung-min with the outside of his boot, but it's a bit too heavy and Alisson is out quickly to gather.

  12. 'Criticism of Alexander-Arnold has been harsh'published at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2021

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

A lot of criticism on Trent Alexander-Arnold has been harsh - I watched Liverpool play at Southampton and he didn't go forward and the reason he didn't go forward is because Jordan Henderson was playing at the back and when Henderson doesn't play in the middle he has to stay back. So everything is a knock on effect.

One or two things change and it effects little things. I don't think Alexander-Arnold has actually done anything different, his crossing is the same, maybe the intensity of his running is slightly different but he's putting balls into areas. There's so many different cogs that have effected Liverpool and him this season so I think some of the criticism has been harsh.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has had his critics this season but he's having a stormer tonight.

The right-back winds a lovely pass over the top for Mo Salah to chase and Eric Dier helps it behind for a corner.

Mo Salah looks to drive beyond Ben Davies but the Welshman does well to stick with him and makes the tackle. Liverpool win it straight back, though. They're looking comfortable.

36 goal involvements for Trent Alexander-Arnold since his Premier League debut in December 2016 (7 goals, 29 assists) - only Andy Robertson has more in that time (40) for a defender.

Spurs don't really have a focal point at the minute. It's easy for Liverpool to defend against.
