Chris Finegan: Bobby on fire, last 25 minutes, best for a while. It would have been criminal not have been ahead at HT. Come on Redmen!!

tonyonduli: Liverpool have been on top throughout. A thoroughly deserved lead. Mourinho’s mind games come to nought and the doubters begin to believe once more!

Liverpool are also making a change.

It looks like Nathaniel Phillips is coming on for Joel Matip.

Harry Kane hasn't come back out for the second half. He looked in a lot of pain with that ankle injury. Serge Aurier is the other Spurs player to make way.

Erik Lamela and Harry Winks to come on.

Engaging tactical battle this one. Liverpool got what they just about deserve with almost the last kick of the first half.

Jurgen Klopp's team have been on the front foot more than Jose Mourinho's defensively disciplined Spurs.

The Reds have edged possession after holding 59% of the ball. Most of that has been in the Spurs half - as shown by the heat maps of the two teams below.

And, after a couple of decent saves from Hugo Lloris, Liverpool went ahead with their seventh shot of the game. Spurs have managed just two.

Roberto Firmino has scored in five of his last six Premier League matches against Spurs.

It was Liverpool’s first in the Premier League since December (Sadio Mane vs West Brom), ending the Reds’ run of 482 minutes and 93 shots without scoring in the competition.

Andrew Mitchell: Lloris has to claim that. It’s not like Mane smashed it across, it’s rolled past him.

Steve: Spurs now have to come out and play. Soft one to concede

Adam Kitchiner: Lloris at fault there. Should have grabbed it.

Rob Elmore: I'm sorry but Dier or Lloris has to get to that ball before Firmino.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho turned on his heel in disgust and walked down the tunnel at half time. Liverpool deserve that advantage but such a soft goal for Spurs to concede.

It seemed that between them Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris conspired to make that very easy for Roberto Firmino by doing precisely nothing.

    And that's the break.

Liverpool's first Premier League goal of 2021 has them in front.

    Roberto Firmino (45+3 mins)

    Liverpool do get the breakthrough!

A tap-in for Roberto Firmino after a lovely pass across the six-yard box by Sadio Mane.

Jose Mourinho will be absolutely fuming.

Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris both seemed to be looking at each other to clear that.

Into added time in the first half. Liverpool still looking for that opening but Trent Alexander-Arnold's chip is nodded away by Eric Dier.

Good save again from Hugo Lloris.

Liverpool quicken the pace and Sadio Mane finds just enough space to get a shot off as he sprints into the area. It stings the palms of Lloris but the Spurs captain is well behind it.

Kaushik Gorai: A team like Liverpool that has been performing exceptionally for three years were bound to have a blip in form at some point of time. We can't go on and put the blame on Thiago, who people forget just came in the summer. It's ridiculous!

Andy K: Spurs relied on Son/Kane for last 2 seasons for form. Either get injured, Spurs' season is in total jeopardy.

Liverpool do a Tottenham. The visitors sit in and then break quickly, but Mo Salah's low ball from the right runs all the way across the six-yard box with no one to take advantage.

Tanguy Ndombele is coming into the game, he enjoys several clever touches and pops it side to side as Liverpool sit deep and ask Spurs to break them down. No route through.

Magnificent tackle from Joe Rodon. He had to get that right.

It's Sadio Mane stretching the Tottenham line again, well found by Roberto Firmino.

Rodon took it off his toes as Mane was shaping to shoot.

Carlos Vinicius is one of the Spurs substitutes warming up. But Harry Kane wants to come back on. Kane immediately clips a ball over the top for Son Heung-min but Alisson is out quickly to gather. Just scooped that up before running out of his box.

Oooh. Another good run from Sadio Mane and he almost latches on to a diagonal ball over the top, but Eric Dier gets across well inside the box.

Dier goes down, and now Harry Kane is down in the Liverpool half needing treatment again.

Could be the ankle he hurt earlier. That's a big concern for Tottenham.
