    Everton 1-0 Southampton

Everton clear as far as Nathan Tella on the edge of the box but the substitute's attempted half-volley is quickly closed down by a rushing sea of blue shirts.

    Everton 1-0 Southampton

Everton have been very solid. They're giving Southampton nothing through the middle, especially with Allan back anchoring their midfield.

Michael Keane almost slips up with a loose touch just outside his own box though, and is forced to give away a corner.

We really need Walker-Peters fit again and in the team.

Good work from Che Adams to win a corner off Ben Godfrey. James Ward-Prowse floats it to the penalty spot and it runs all the way through to Nathan Redmond, who looks to pick out the far corner but curls harmlessly wide.

Everton deal with James Ward-Prowse's delivery and Danny Ings is offside as the ball comes back into the Toffees' box. Slim pickings for the Saints striker today.

Ooof. Lucas Digne slices Moussa Djenepo after some quick feet from the Southampton winger. Think he's somehow escaped a booking...

Everton have lost their last three home games, and while it's only a one-goal advantage there might be some nerves there and Southampton may be able to take a chance if it comes.

Surely Danny Ings has to be looking to move on in the summer? He is wasting his time staying at Southampton.

Another free-kick on the right for Everton. This is like set-piece training for Gylfi Sigurdsson. His delivery is headed behind and Lucas Digne's corner is cleared.

Sooner or later you feel the hosts will make one of these count.

Can't understand all these Saints fans saying Ralph is great, safe as houses etc. Two NINE-NIL defeats, 7 defeats in 8 PL games, including losing 3-2 to 9-man Newcastle, regularly dismal performances, no plan B. Oh but yes, Ralph is a man of principle...

    Not too far away!

That's the closest Southampton have come as Mohammed Salisu heads narrowly wide from James Ward-Prowse's corner.

Neither side getting a grip on the game as Richarlison is on the end of two meaty challenges. First from Moussa Djenepo and then Jan Bednarek. It looked serious in each case, but both times the Brazilian has walked away without needing treatment.

    Another chance for Michael Keane!

Gylfi Sigurdsson's delivery is on the money and the Everton defender gets his head to it, but can only guide his effort wide of the far post.

Richarlison is down again, you could hear that one even if you didn't see it.

I've lost count of the amount of free-kicks Everton have had in these sorts of positions...

That is two brilliant pieces of defending from Southampton once again. It was the high-line again, they are continuing to do it, and Everton have started to get used to it. It was a brilliant, full-stretch header away by Jannik Vestergaard.

Moussa Djenepo catches Richarlison, might have just got a toe nail on the ball but it's an Everton free-kick that is floated into the box.

Michael Keane nods the deep delivery back across goal, James Ward-Prowse only half heads clear and eventually it goes behind for a corner. Southampton living dangerously there.

Wayne Ellis: Southampton have absolutely no goal threat from open play, a team devoid of confidence

    Everton 1-0 Southampton

Everton are incredibly narrow but it's working from them and the hosts combine nicely in the middle of the pitch before Richarlison looks to wind a low ball into the box with the outside of his right foot. It's turned behind for a corner.
