Dominic Calvert-Lewin jumps so high that he puts his hand in the face of Mohammed Salisu while he's in the air. There's certainly contact, it's not a failing arm, it's just a hand in the face, but Salisu isn't impressed.

A bit of pin-ball in the Southampton box from the corner but Dominic Calvert-Lewin bundles into Fraser Forster and each member of the goalkeepers' union will tell you that's a free-kick every day of the week.

If we're judging it on the first half I would expect Everton to get the next goal.

Southampton knocked it around nicely but they have to start getting efforts on goal. I'd also like to see them be a bit more nasty in the tackle, and show a little bit more anger and desire in possession of the ball too.

Saints need to try some of the young players on the bench, for example Tella for Redmond. They need some pace and someone who can unlock the defence.

I was hoping for a goal-fest after that early Richarlison strike, but that's not materialised so far. Big second half for both sides coming up, though, with Everton looking to close in on the top four and Southampton aiming to stop their recent slide.

I have always been a supporter of Ralph since he has been with us and i still am but the tactics just aren't working anymore, can't blame injuries as we have a strong squad out, maybe player attitude can be a cause but its clear the tactics are all wrong.

Danny Ings, in particular, looks likely given half a chance, but he hasn't had that all important opportunity to get that shot on goal. At half-time Ralph Hasenhuttl will be saying that they've got to force Jordan Pickford to make saves.

Everton, on the other hand, have been positive. They've created a couple of decent opportunities and are probably unfortunate not to be two goals ahead.

It has been a reasonable game.

The disappointing thing for Southampton is that Jordan Pickford hasn't really had to make a save. They have grown into the game and had good play in Everton's half, and manipulated the ball quickly, but haven't challenged the keeper.

It is comfortable enough for Everton - Carlo Ancelotti will be happy with how this game is going.

Ralph Hasenhuttl will be disappointed with the opening spell that his team showed. They reacted, exploiting Everton's weakness, but Everton have reacted and both teams are bogging each down at the moment.
