Watford are not pushing their wide midfielders out towards the flanks very much. They are allowing Spurs possession out there.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am basing it on both penalties - the inconsistency of going to the screen, the referee might have ruled out it straight away when he looked at it. But it is the fact he went to look at it. Both in real time he said no penalty, but only gets told to look at one. Theirs was soft for me but he gets told to look and has given it.
"I am at the other end of the pitch for our penalty shout. The goalkeeper comes out with his foot and he either catches him or the ball. The Bernardo one, he stood him up and it got given. Penalties are penalties, but for us it is getting told to look at the screen.
"Deflation. The fans were outstanding all day, Now many teams have done that to Man City this year. We have lots of positives to take, especially with our manager not here. When we went down to 10 men there were lots of periods where we didn't have the ball but we defended really well. We changed system and the winner is a bit of a lucky break. We have to swallow it. That is football and we have a semi-final to look forward to on Thursday.
"Everyone talks about us being a young team, and we are, but that shows we don't fear anyone. We might get it wrong and ultimately we have lost, but it is a tough one to swallow rather than losing 4-0."

Emerson is seeing plenty of the ball on this right-hand side for Spurs. He links up with Harry Kane, then Oliver Skipp, before he sportingly puts the ball out of play as Joshua King has gone down injured for Watford.
Watford 0-0 Tottenham
Emerson's touch on the right is brilliant as Spurs build a nice attack. It's chipped into Harry Kane but his overhead kick doesn't come off.

Decent chance! Joshua King picks it up in space and is allowed to turn. He slips in Emmanuel Dennis but he has two defenders on him in the box. He twists to gain a yard of space and hits it straight at Hugo Lloris.

It depends how Watford want to play the game. Do you want to have a go at Spurs? They are undoubtedly the favourites, but Watford are shaky at the back. Attack is the best form of defence, but they don't just concede one or two, they concede three or four. This season is about this game, it could be a good springboard for the games coming up.

Arsenal
Arsenal assistant Albert Stuivenberg tells BBC MOTD: "We are very frustrated with the outcome if you play a game like this against one of the best teams in the world. At the end to have zero points is frustrating because we should have won the game."
On Arsenal not being given a penalty: "I think it is a penalty but I am looking for consistency. We have VAR in place so why not check yourself as a referee? That did not happen so it is disappointing.
"We did really, really good, how many chances did they really create? Until the end, they have lucky chance when it drops to them. The fans enjoyed our performance today, we had our chances, we had the big one at 1-1 with Gabriel Martinelli, it did not go our way but proud of the performance."
On Gabriel's red card: "It is something we have to learn, we have young players in the team and have to control our emotions. I am not sure the first yellow is because of that (scuffing the penalty spot), I cannot ask the question to the referee now. If you are on a yellow you have to be smarter."
"A lot of positives and we have to build from here, this is the level we have to play. Everyday we work hard to create this situation. We want to see a team with belief and can compete with a team like this and can play against a team like this too. We showed all of that today."

Spurs immediately look to test Watford but Emerson's cross from the right is deflected into the arms of Daniel Bachmann.

Watford v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)
Watford are the only side yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season and are on a club top-flight record run of 27 successive matches without one.
Meanwhile, Antonio Conte is the first Tottenham manager to remain unbeaten in his first seven Premier League fixtures (W4, D3).
But Spurs have won only six of their past 22 away league matches, including just one of their last six.

Manchester City
Manchester City midfielder Rodri, speaking to BT Sport: "You always have two or three games like this in a season. They showed why they are bin their position - the way they have grown with Mikel [Arteta] is huge. We know they have more rest than us. They have six days to prepare, we have three games in one week and travel. It is tough sometimes, when you don't have the physicality. We have to maybe play a bit more easy. We struggle in the first-half but took control in the second a bit more and do more our game. They did a great game but we showed our champions personality.
"We have learned from last years that you have to push no matter. We never drop and thought it was possible. I scored a goal. I don't know what I was doing in there with Laporte also. It was crazy. Three more vital points.
"I have no doubt ours was a penalty. At first I had doubt in the first action but I get close to the screen and for me it is clear.
"Small details make a big difference. They made a big mistake with the second yellow for Gabriel. We were clever. We did not have many chances but we were so effective.
"It is a massive moment. People think we always have to play top level. Sometimes it is impossible. I came back from Covid and was tired last 20 minutes. Joao Cancelo plays all the games. The calendar is a bit crazy in this period."

Watford have reportedly refused to release Emmanuel Dennis for the Africa Cup of Nations.
He has scored eight Premier League goals this season and is their top scorer.
A Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) statement said Dennis had been excused because Watford were "baring fangs".
Dennis will now be available for Watford's league games against Newcastle and Norwich, as well as their FA Cup third round tie at Leicester City on 8 January.
"I knew the board and Nigerian board were speaking. I accept every decision they find and that for me is finished," said Claudio Ranieri.
"We were ready to give over the players, they didn't do it. The two boards spoke and for me it is OK.
"Of course he wanted to go to play but he also wanted to help Watford."

Arsenal
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale tells BT Sport: "Tough to take but we have to take it, that is the result. I don't think for large parts of the game teams have done that to Manchester City. The red card changes the game, we were so close. We go again, we have a big semi-final coming up.
"They are one of, if not the best team in the league. We are a young team and don't fear anyone.
"Both penalties, I don't know why the referee is told to see one and not the other. It is there for a reason, go and use it. It is the inconsistency. The whole point is to help the game out, in real time it didn't look like one and slow it down on a screen and it is given."
On Gabriel's red card: "I was so confused, I didn't see him get the first yellow card. It changes the game, I think it is harsh. For large periods when down to 10 men, we defended well. It was a lucky break for Rodri and he finished it well."

Final Score at Vicarage Road
Antonio Conte has only ever lost once to Watford in his managerial career. It was almost four years ago when his Chelsea side were rather surprisingly on the receiving end of a 4-1 scoreline at Vicarage Road.
It’s still Conte’s heaviest ever defeat in his managerial career in England.

Re: Joe, Esher. They will be unstoppable if they continue to get decisions going their way like today and last week, they continue to get soft pens etc and they're good enough not to need them
