It is 11 wins in a row. City did something similar at the turn of last year and I think the stat is Pep Guardiola has won 10 league games in a row four times. Sir Alex Ferguson is next on the list with two. When City get like this, other teams struggle to match them and gaps form. For [Chelsea and Liverpool] playing tomorrow, knowing they have to win just to stay afloat, that is a different type of pressure. You worry about City on their best day.

Yash Shah: Awful refereeing, penalty not given in first half, penalty given for CLEAR dive (he was on way down when Xhaka pulled shirt), Soft yellows, 6 Minutes ET, City hardly carded. Awful pity there is so much money in PL and such mediocre officiating.

  4. 'Lacking defensive discipline'published at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2022

    Watford v Tottenham (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Watford are in a mess and on a run of five successive defeats. The Hornets do carry a goal threat though - they have scored at least once in each of those games, and took the lead in two of them.

It is at the other end where Claudio Ranieri's side have major issues, conceding an average of three per match during that run, and I don't see them keeping Tottenham out either.

Spurs could not break down Southampton on Tuesday despite Saints playing the entire second half with 10 men, but Watford just do not have that kind of defensive discipline.

    Prediction: 0-2

That is so unfortunate. We played so well it just isn't possible to get a result against City with 10 men. So unlucky

Loads of reaction to come. I'll start building up to the next game which is Watford v Tottenham. That kicks off in under half an hour. But stick around to hear all the chat from the Emirates.

So, Rodri, who if he'd been playing for Arsenal and committed the same number and types of fouls would be off by now, scores. It's funny how often that happens.

So what does that do to the table?

Manchester City are now 11 POINTS clear at the top having played a game extra than Chelsea and two more than Liverpool.

Arsenal remain in fourth, four points ahead of West Ham, who take on Crystal Palace later and can close the gap to one point with a win.

Bukayo Saka is chatting with Jack Grealish on the pitch at full time and he isn't happy.

Rodri and several City players huddled in a circle when the whistle went. Granit Xhaka is complaining to the referee, alongside Martin Odegaard.

The crowd are chanting something I can't write on here too...

Can we just give City the title now, and then start a new mini league for fun until May? They're unstoppable.

All over. City have got the big win! How important will that prove to be at the end of the season?

Arsenal players are on the floor. They are devastated.

That is so unlucky. In my opinion, City don't deserve that. I think they've been very, very fortunate to have the man extra, to still be in the game. Then to score in the 93rd minute. They celebrated as much for both goals because they've been nowhere near their best today.

Headed away. Granit Xhaka wins it back. He slides in Kieran Tierney but his pull-back is cut-out!

Now City break... But Riyad Mahrez is stopped by Ben White.

Ilkay Gundogan is late on Granit Xhaka now. Another free-kick. Is this a last chance for Arsenal to ping it into the box?

Rodri got a yellow for taking his shirt off and now Bernardo Silva is in the book for a foul in midfield.

    Rodri

    There it is!!!

Ben White wins the initial header but it's only to Aymeric Laporte. He shoots, it's deflected into the path of Rodri and he reacts to poke it into the net from close range.

It's a huge blow for Arsenal and Rodri rubs it in with the supporters as he rips his shirt off in the corner in front of them!

Kevin de Bruyne pulls it back to the edge of the box. It's a decent set-piece routine but Joao Cancelo drags the shot and it's blocked by Thomas Partey.

RJ: It's in a fans nature to cherry pick to support their own agendas. Arsenal fans have been so quiet when decisions go in their favour. I'm sure Soucek for one isn't feeling to sorry for them.
