It is not clicking at all for England right now. They momentarily look threatening on the break, but Saka has to check back and then plays a woeful pass to nobody. The US players, charging to get back, do the rest.

Stevo: I see Mason Mount’s name on the team sheet but I can’t see him on the pitch….
Anon: Get Mount off. He’s doing nothing but losing the ball.
England 0-0 USA
Harry Maguire deals with a US corner in authoritative fashion, rising highest to firmly head clear. You can't fault that.

This is better from England. It is about picking the time to attack. You don't want to get into a frenetic game with this USA side because that is what they thrive on.
England 0-0 USA
The USA are so quick to put pressure on the England players as soon as they move it forward from Maguire and Stones. Tyler Adams is so aware of where the ball is going to go. It's like he's in Groundhog Day and has played this game thousands of times already.

Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Al Bayt Stadium
England very laboured so far and it is USA who are threatening most. Weston McKennie should have scored while Christian Pulisic was desperately unlucky to hit the woodwork.
No zip to England's play. Harry Maguire and John Stones also need to stop just passing to each other and actually do something with the ball.

I'm sure when we win, the argument will be the end justifies the means but I hate this ponderous, dull football we play now. If we had a real go at them with pace from the start we might be out of sight by now and the game would be good to watch. If Foden was on he'd be taking the ball and running at them. Sterling and Mount are just not in good enough form at the moment. Grealish and Foden should replace them.
Geard, Hunmanby
If all the USA have to do is watch Stones and Maguire pass it sideways to each other then they'll be very happy. England are good when they play with intent and that's been lacking.

Compared to Monday, we look and have been awful. Wake up England!!

That USA middle three is starting to click in this match. Musah is breaking things up, McKennie is driving with the ball and Adams is keeping it all ticking over.
England 0-0 USA
Mason Mount tries to catch the US defence out with a whipped cross into the middle. It almost works too. Having cleared, the US counter and Harry Maguire and John Stones have to react quickly to head off the threat of Christian Pulisic.

The bar is pouring drinks faster than the glasses can come out of the dishwasher at times at Jude Bellingham’s home town club.
There’s no risk of supporters going thirsty at Stourbridge FC, West Midlands, though - there’s a stash of disposable glasses at the ready.

The United States are finding real space between England's midfield and defence at the moment.
They are looking so dangerous on the break... what a strike that was from Christian Pulisic, I'm not sure Pickford was getting there.

It is a fantastic strike on his weaker foot. Kieran Trippier almost "go on, then" from that angle. It almost came off. It was dipping and it had everything on it.
England 0-0 USA
In the ball goes. Out the ball comes. Too easy for the US defence.
England 0-0 USA
This helps England. Harry Kane is fouled in an aerial tussle and they have a free-kick in the USA half. Probably too far out to hit but it can go into the box.
England 0-0 USA
The USA appear to be targeting England's left-hand side, with Sergino Dest seeing plenty of the ball for Gregg Berhalter's team.

Luca: I don’t want to jinx it but I sense another upset on the card. US have pace, pressure well and I think will grab a goal on the counter.
Matt: USA have a good plan. We need to be a bit more creative and make sure we are clinical when the chances come.

I think we can say that England are in a proper World Cup game today. Iran were the ideal opponents in the first game with everything that was going on.
England 0-0 USA
England are living right on the edge here!
Christian Pulisic gets hold of the ball in the box, pauses, shimmies into space and then lashes a rising angled shot against the bar.
England need to get a grip. They're second best.

The USA are really coming into the game now. They are looking comfortable and stroking the ball around, much like England were in the early stages. The game is really even.
