  11. 'A day of mixed emotions'published at 17:35 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Jack Grealish, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a day of mixed emotions. I thought we dominated at the start - we knew they’d sit in and try to counter-attack and that’s what they did for both of the goals. We would have taken a draw all day long at half-time. It’s our hands and we’ll recover now and have a big week of training.

"I am flat because of how the game ended. We had the penalty, but at half-time we would have taken it. At full-time we look back and think ‘could we have gone on and won the game?’

"Pep was positive at half-time and said we were playing well. We could have helped the goals but we dominated the game and the ball, but it is mixed emotions walking away.

"It was about time I scored! I’ve wanted to score goals and the manager kept saying to me at half-time to hit the target and I did that. I’ve scored quite a few goals at this ground now I think so hopefully I can come play here a bit more often!

"It’s not about me on the final day or who we’re playing about. It’s about the club and trying to get all three points to win the title. I’ve never had that before and I’m looking to it."

  12. 'A long day watching Man City have the ball'published at 17:35 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes, speaking to Sky Sports: "I hope some day I’m able to play like Pep’s teams - they are so good with the ball. We weren’t able to get it off them. When you haven’t got the ball you have to try and find a different way and we tried to be compact and play on the counter. It was a long afternoon stood in the technical area watching Manchester City have the ball around our area.

"We had a game plan but we wanted to wrestle a bit more possession and do a bit more with the ball. Every time we got it they hounded us down and got the ball back. We got a couple of balls in behind them and they were good goals.

"I’m disappointed we didn’t maintain our top four or five push but it is still incredible where we are, especially after a season in Europe. It is a great achievement, but I am very lucky with the players I have. It is great credit to the players.

"I did say it would be very difficult to finish sixth again after last season - I can only praise the players for their efforts. The next plan is trying to work out how to get a better team and compete against the Liverpools, Tottenhams, Arsenals and Manchester Citys - we have been more competitive and given them all a game this season."

  13. 'A point each is a fair result'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am proud of our performance and satisfied in a way. It was a tough game and a tough, intense atmosphere. The opponent are fighting for their lives and we competed really well. In the first half we were really, really strong. We needed the second goal to kill it off but at 1-0 they are alive and the crowd played their part. In the end, I can't say it isn't a fair result. A good point and we move forward.

"We had good opportunities first half. Good attacks. We were the better team. But you can see, with a free-kick or mistake you have to defend your box and with the crowd it id ferocious at times. I thought the boys dealt with it well.

"As much as we think we could have added, they had chances too in the second half. The narrative before is about whether we have anything to play for but you can see the boys gave everything. I am content with what I saw.

"We have a home game to finish the season. I think we have made progress. It is our record points and we want to add to that. Then we can maybe have a nice holiday."

  14. 'I couldn't have asked for a better send off'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    West Ham United

West Ham midfielder Mark Noble, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's brilliant and a fantastic day for me and my family and the team. They are a very special team so to go 2-0 up against them - we didn't have much of the ball. It was nice to walk around and say thank you to the fans for the season.

"We agreed we wouldn't do a sentimental substitution, it was only in the best interest of the team. I got told at half-time by Kevin Nolan that the gaffer would probably need me around 70 minutes and thank you to Lukasz for that great penalty save at the end.

"It has been a long road to this seeming I announced it at the start of the season. What a season it has been for West Ham. It has rejuvenated the whole club. I've got my head around leaving now - I couldn't have asked for a better send off. Very rarely at this level do you get to make your own exit and I've been lucky enough to do that - it is time to spend some time with the family."

  15. 'We were architects of own downfall'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Watford 1-5 Leicester

    Watford

Watford boss Roy Hodgson to BBC Sport: "I didn’t see it coming at half-time. We were disappointed with the two goals we conceded in the first half. They were individual errors. I thought we’d done enough in the first half and showed enough threat.

"That goal within seconds of the restart put Leicester in a really good position. Bad mistakes led to the goals. When you analyse the goals we conceded, there isn’t a lot good you could say. Crass individual errors and we find ourselves on the end of a very bad defeat. It’s disappointing considering how the same team performed against Everton. It was tough for everyone, not least our fans. We gave them a shred of hope we could build on that and give them something more to cheer.

"The mistakes today were particularly bad. I know our players are gutted about those mistakes.

"The players are really doing their best. It’s fine for the fans to accuse them of not doing their best but it’s not true. They’ve been trying very hard.

“We went three at the back and two up front at half-time in the hope it might put more pressure on but when they scored after a few seconds it was put to rest. We were architects of own downfall. It’s a great pity. We would have loved to give our fans a better game. That’s not the case so here I am in this situation to apologise.

“The supporters want to see their team win and we patently haven’t done it. We’ve had the worst home record in all the leagues. You need your wins at home. The fans are entitled to be frustrated and upset with us and to make their opinions heard. I hope they come back next season in a lower division and they get these guys playing to the level we hope they can play.”

  16. 'The point shifts the pressure a bit'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    FT: Leeds 1-1 Brighton

    Leeds United

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, speaking to BBC Sport: "I've said since day one of me being here that the resolve of our team, to stick together and fight for things, especially with our backs against the wall, is at a very high level. That rewarded us more than anything today.

"It is typical for me that we get a big chance with Joffy [Joe Gelhardt] and it hits our captain in the face and it would be 1-0 and the game looks very different. After that, fair play to Brighton, they managed some very good situations with the ball to unbalance us and we were effective enough against the ball. We looked nervy on the ball and didn't get ourselves into the game. When we went down a goal In thought we were a bit more compact and we brought ourselves into the match. Second half we pushed hard and were a bit unlucky not to come away with more.

"Everyone in the entire community here wants us to find a way to do this. I went to dinner the other night and walking down the street I heard 15-20 people shouting 'come on, we're behind you, you have to believe'. We all need that. I hope every time they see our players, they push them and tell them they love them. We are trying to do everything we can.

"Burnley have a game in hand but the point shifts the pressure a little bit. They have to get a result. They played well against Tottenham and could have gotten more out of that match. We need to find a way to recover and the invest everything we have at Brentford. We spoke about seizing special moments here and now we are down to one."

  17. 'We wanted to end with a win for the fans'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

    Wolves 1-1 Norwich

    Wolves

Wolves boss Bruno Lage to Sky Sports: "The players gave everything. It is frustrating because to be honest in the last couple of months, we've conceded chances and spaces for our opponents to score goals. Today was another game like that; we were in control, we gave everything, we had the ball, Norwich got a chance and scored.

"In the second half we changed some things, the players did their best, we scored a goal and should have more. We wanted to finish at home with a good performance and victory for the fans because they were amazing since day one, supporting us. It is a long season, we put Wolves in a position to fight for things no one thought possible. I see the way my players work; we have missed three players in defence and it has been frustrating the way we suffer goals."

  18. 'Draw is an incredible credit to the team'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great comeback and it is an incredible credit to the team to do it against this team and with the way they defend. They are so good in the transition and I think we played a good game. We spoke at half-time about not giving up and if we scored one goal we’d be in the game. There is one more week, one more game, with our people - I assure it will be sold out and we’ll do the best performance possible to win the game and win the title.

"It would have been more perfect to win today but West Ham are fighting - it is complicated and so difficult to play against them. It is in our hands.

"I don’t have the feeling that we played badly in the first half - we maybe but didn’t create many chances but enough. They defended so deep but we created a really good performance.

"I don’t have the feeling about poor penalties - Riyad has been exceptional this season. You mean last season? I don’t know about 50 years ago. Next game Riyad is going to score.

"It will not be easy - there will be a lot of emotions. We’ll have to train hard and recover and we’ll do everything in that game to try and win the title."

  19. Chelsea win Women's FA Cuppublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

Chelsea have defended their Women's FA Cup crown and completed the Double in dramatic fashion as Sam Kerr scored the winner against Manchester City in extra time in front of a record crowd at Wembley Stadium.

Kerr, who put Chelsea 1-0 up in the first half, kept her cool to slide in a deflected winner after City had twice come from behind.

Emma Hayes' side, who won a third successive Women's Super League title last weekend, were 2-1 up in normal time before substitute Hayley Raso netted an 89th-minute equaliser.

That came after Erin Cuthbert's stunning strike had put Chelsea in front, following Lauren Hemp's curler for City on the stroke of half-time.

  20. 'We were expecting title to go to final day'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 15 May 2022

FT: West Ham 2-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was so difficult - they are an exceptional team with set pieces and transitions. In general we played really well, with who we are and we created enough chances. We had patience and while we would have preferred to win, a draw leaves it in our hands and we’ll try and win the title with our family.

"Jack Grealish's goal was an incredible finish and that helped us a lot. He was more involved in the second half and he was perfect."

On the title going down to the final day: "We couldn’t expect different with this Liverpool - they are almost the perfect team. We didn’t expect to win the title with three, four or five games to spare. We’ve both done an exceptional season. We won’t look at anyone else - we’ll just try and win our game. I’m pretty sure the Etihad Stadium will be full and they’ll be supporting us.”
