Manchester United manager Marc Skinner speaking to Sky Sports: "I've picked this team because I believe they can cause Arsenal the problems we need to and get a result. It will be very difficult, as we know, but that’s what we’re here for."

On playing in front of more than 35,000 fans: “We have players who experience that at the Euros. It’s a great spectacle for women’s football, putting all these fans in front of two teams who will try and get the three points.”

Eye-catching quote from Man Utd manager Marc Skinner on Thursday, who said that he wanted "brains on seats" this weekend.

What he means is that while ticket sales are positive, they must encourage knowledge in the women's game.

"I want it to be more than a bum on a seat, I want a brain on a seat - I want people who want to be there to support us," he said.

Off-putting image of viscera-covered terraces aside, he makes a good point. The WSL don't want fans just coming for a different day out - they want these supporters coming week in, week out.

Arsenal are also playing their Champions League group stage matches at the Emirates, and manager Jonas Eidevall has said his side feel "more and more at home" at the larger ground rather than their usual venue at Meadow Park, which holds 4,500.

Returning to the Emirates also brings another opportunity for Arsenal to extend their record of consecutive WSL victories - this week they could make it 15.

Their winning run has been remarkable considering their ever-changing injury list.

Kim Little, Rafaelle Souza and Leah Williamson remain absent, but despite doubts over their fitness during the international break, with Lotte Wubben-Moy and Jordan Nobbs withdrawing before England's game against Norway and Beth Mead returning home following the match, all three start today.

  6. What can Man Utd learn from the past?published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2022

Arsenal v Manchester United (17:30 GMT)

Arsenal are already on a record-breaking run in the Women's Super League, and they head into Saturday's match at Emirates Stadium looking to extend that winning streak to 15 matches.

Standing in their way are a Manchester United side hoping to demonstrate their own title credentials.

It will be a monumental task for the visitors to get anything against a team who have kept 12 clean sheets during their winning run and only been beaten four times in 2022.

    FT: Everton 1-2 Man City

Former England international Laura Bassett speaking on Sky Sports: "Shaw is the go to woman. A goal and an assist this game. She is so dangerous. You supply the ball to her and she will cause so many problems. She’s carried on the form she had before the international break."

Khadija Shaw is given the player of the match award by the television panel, and I can't disagree with their choice.

    See ya!

Chloe Kelly flicks the ball between two defenders with a wonderful piece of skill and then whips the ball into the box.

It's a blue shirt which clears but that was tidy.

Aggie Beever-Jones has been a real bright spark since she has come on for Everton and she does well to work some space for the shot, but it lacks the power to trouble Sandy MacIver.

    Let off for City.

This time Chloe Kelly turns provider from the corner and Laia Aleixandri's powerful header is straight at Emily Ramsey.

It just won't happen for Chloe Kelly.

    Top goalkeeping.

    So close.

Everton are in and Gio is haring off towards goal. She opts to play the ball square but Leila Ouahabi is back in the nick of time to clear the ball and deny a certain equaliser.

That's the closest the hosts have come.

On another day, Khadija Shaw could have had a hat-trick.

Chloe Kelly picks out the forward with a brilliant cross but she cannot keep her header down.

That should have been on target from there.
