Lucy Graham is careless in possession and Julie Blakstad picks her pocket before setting off towards goal.

The final ball is cut out by the retreating blue shirts but the hosts have to keep the ball better.

    Everton 0-0 Man City

The visitors are enjoying a lot of early success down the left. Laura Coombs is seeing a lot of the ball and picking it up in pockets of space, but Everton are standing firm for now.

    Everton 0-0 Man City

As expected, City are dominating the ball early on and probing deep into Everton territory.

The final ball was loose on that occasion and it goes through to Emily Ramsey, but ominous early signs for the hosts.

The tunes are absolutely blasting here at Walton Hall Park and I am right next to a giant speaker.

We've had some decent dancy tunes but now moved on to the classic Everton songs which are annoyingly catchy and will no doubt be in my head all day.

    And also very, very long.

    Anyway, here come the players...

Man City boss Gareth Taylor on the recent international break...

"A lot of these things are out of your control – some players needed some minutes some players probably didn’t," said Taylor.

"We have good communication with all the nations pre and post camp. Sometimes we agree on plans and sometimes we don’t. It’s part and parcel of it these days there’s big demands on players like I’ve spoken about previously.

"Trying to gain them some opportunity to recover or rest is really difficult."

  9. 'City aren't out of title race'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2022

Everton v Manchester City (15:00 GMT)

Former England midfielder Karen Carney speaking to Sky Sports: "Manchester City have lost a lot of big players that if they'd kept, and added a couple more, they'd be real title contenders. And they still are - they're not out of the title race, far from it.

"But the players they have lost are European Championship winners that have gone on to make other teams significantly better."

So where do we stand in the WSL?

Arsenal lead the way after their imperious start to the season, with Chelsea level on points, having played a game more.

Victory for Man Utd would see them move level on points with Arsenal, while a win with a three-goal margin will see them go top on goal difference.

Man City are fourth, but any slip up against Everton, will open the door for Tottenham to climb above them.

    Everton are seventh.

    All to play for then...

    Everton

Time now to hear from Everton boss Brian Sorensen...

Speaking about loan winger Jess Park's unavailability against her parent club, Sorensen told Sky Sports: "We will miss her as she's been playing in that wide wing position so we will play with three midfielders today.

"It's always about matching them and so having that extra number in there won't hurt. We want to play in the style we want to and keep the ball. It will be a battle and physically we can definitely match them with the team we have.

"It's another day in the office and we can create our own history. We have a good chance and we will try to go for it."

With kick-off fast approaching in today's first game, let's take a look at some of the key stats...

    • Everton have failed to score in five of their six home games against Manchester City in the WSL, with the exception being a 3-2 defeat in October 2017.
    • Manchester City have won all 12 of their WSL meetings against Everton, the best 100% record one team has against another in the competition's history.
    • Victory for Manchester City would make them just the second side to win 13 consecutive games against an opponent in the WSL, with Arsenal having won each of their last 13 against Everton.
    • Everton have lost each of their last two WSL home games, last losing three in a row back in April 2019.

It's a glorious afternoon here at Walton Hall Park. The sun is out but it's crisp cold. And there's a waft of burger van around the place which is making me think I should run and grab some chips before kick off.

This ground is shall we say, cosy. Nonetheless it should be a cracker this afternoon as Manchester City look to get their 13th victory over Everton. They have the best 100% record in the WSL against the Toffees, 12 wins in 12 games.

Brian Sorensen's side may be a bit rusty after they saw their game against Tottenham before the international break cancelled. Or perhaps, they're just fresh?

    Let's find out.

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor opts for three changes to the side that beat Reading 3-0 before the international break.

Sandy MacIver starts against her former team with usual goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck not in the squad.
