    Brilliant diving header!

Chloe Kelly is at the heart of it yet again for Manchester City. She gets the ball on the corner of the box, cuts inside and it's a cross-cum-shot with her left foot.

Julie Blakstad read it superbly and flung herself at it and headed past Megan Walsh into the far corner. City look in the mood today.

City are pushing for a second and nearly get it from another set piece.

Alex Greenwood swings in the free-kick from the right, it goes deep but Khadija Shaw can't get the header of target.

The way this game has started, there will be plenty more chances for the in-form striker to add to her tally.

  11. goal

GOAL - Man City 1-0 Brightonpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2022

    Veatriki Sarri (OG)

There is the goal! Chloe Kelly's corner, Megan Walsh makes a meal of it and it goes in off Veatriki Sarri!

Kelly took the in-swinging corner from the left, it should have been a simple take for Walsh but Sarri is in her way and the ball bounces off the defender and in at the near post.

An early Christmas present for Manchester City.

    Man City 0-0 Brighton

A Manchester City goal already feels like a matter of time. Chloe Kelly again causes problems, this time with a jinking run, twisting this way and that to confuse Poppy Pattinson before flashing the shot across the face of goal. Well wide.

Big 10 minutes for these Reading players and I am not sure if they have enough quality to bring anybody on.

    Reading 1-0 Tottenham

Charlie Wellings provides a rare breather for the Reading defenders, taking the fight to Tottenham at the other end.

Her wayward shot doesn't trouble the Spurs goal though.

    Man City 0-0 Brighton

City come forward again and this time it is Kerstin Casparij bursting into the box. The right-back has plenty of time and space on the byline but a heavy touch sees the ball go out for a goal kick.

Disappointing end to a promising attack with players waiting in the middle.

More forward passes from Spurs in the second half since they've brought those substitutes on.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 76 mins

    Reading 1-0 Tottenham

Rosella Ayane is the latest Tottenham player to make way, replaced by Nikola Karczewska.

The changes have made a real difference, with Kerys Harrop's delivery from the left providing a real problem for Reading, in particular.

The home side are tiring but just about hanging on.

    Man City 0-0 Brighton

The first chance of the game goes the way of the hosts with Chloe Kelly put in with a ball over the top.

The England forward probably has more time than she realises and an sends ambitious chip well over the bar.

A quiet start at the Academy Stadium as Manchester City aim to make it eight wins in a row and keep the pressure up on the top three in the WSL.

Amy Merrick's Brighton will be hoping to end that run but a couple of stats stick out that might concern fans of the South Coast club...

    • Manchester City have won six of their seven WSL games against Brighton (D1), winning the last three by 7-1, 6-0 and 7-2 scorelines respectively.
